NewsReal contributor Kathy Shaidle reported Sunday that her blogger-husband Arnie was assaulted by an Islamic union thug while videotaping an anti-Israel demonstration in Toronto.
In the video, Mallah charges toward Shaidle’s husband, stepping right up to his face, clearly intent to intimidate. “Who gave you permission to take a picture?” Mallah demands as they stand on public property. “You claim that you’re a big tough guy?” Mallah then grabs the camera in an apparent attempt to wrench it away. Shaidle’s husband fights back, eventually warding Mallah off.
Though this occurred outside the States, it is certainly indicative of the thuggery tolerated from left-leaning organizations throughout the West. Earlier this month, Bank of America deputy general council Greg Baer’s home was placed under siege by 500 members of SEIU allegedly escorted by Washington DC police outside their jurisdiction. Responding local authorities reportedly took no action in response to the plainly aggressive mob.
Need we speculate how differently such tactics would be viewed, and responded to, were they perpetuated by self-professed Tea Partiers? One need only consider the aching hope of politicians and members of the mainstream press that “someone upset about Obamacare” would be found to blame for the failed Times Square car bomb. This double-standard is sickening, demonstrating concern for political effect over both public safety and individual rights.
Shaidle’s husband reports he is seeking legal council to take action against both Mallah and the affiliated union. Assault seems an appropriate charge. The question is whether politically correct authorities will weigh blindly.

This morning, [Arnie] taped a demonstration against Benyamin Netanyahu’s visit to the city. The demo was co-sponsored by taxpayer funded Palestine House.
While filming a public demonstration on a public sidewalk, my husband was approached by Ali Mallah — the Vice President of the Canadian Arab Federation, and high ranking member of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE)/Canadian Labour Congress. (Mr. Mallah is no stranger to controversy.)
Mallah recognized my husband, crossed the street, and verbally and physically assaulted him.
You can see the video and his report here and here.
Arnie was unhurt.

It is truly an upside down world.
This can be traced back to the thug tactics in play all the way back to last Summer and the "townhall" meetings, when SEIU and other union thugs, were being paid to be at the townhalls for initimidation and in fact assaulting people in several instances with no one charged or arrested. It seems that law enforcement stops at the union water's edge, since the law enforcement personnel are union members as well. Yeah, I'm saying it; it seems law enforcement isn't a priority and is a conflict of interest when unions are involved, as of late.
