What’s Your ‘Florida Man’ Story? Google It To Find Out In The Florida Man Challenge

CBS 4 Miami
March 21, 2019 at 6:25 pm

excerpt:

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – There’s a viral sensation taking over social media called the ‘Florida Man’ Challenge and it’s super easy to participate and will make you laugh.

Basically, the internet is asking people, “What’s your Florida man story?

It’s fun and ridiculous at the same time, just like the Sunshine state.

It all started with a Tumbler post last week when people were being asked to Google “florida man” followed by your birthday. For example, “florida man april 7.”

The first story that comes up is your ‘Florida Man’ story.

The results are hysterical at times.

I gave it a try. There are so many stories on the ‘Florida Man’ Story I had to go to the second page to find the actual ‘Florida Man’ Story for my date of birth. The first page was all stories on the ‘Florida Man’ Story.

April 13th:

Florida Man's Own Dashboard Camera Lands Him in Jail

The Palm Beach Post reports that after 25-year-old Xavier Moran was involved in a crash on April 5, he told a sheriff's deputy he had been cut off by another driver and could prove it with his dashboard camera. He then signed a consent waiver to search the camera.

When the Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy reviewed the footage, he saw Moran burglarizing a beauty store. Authorities say the video showed Moran taking a baseball bat from the trunk and someone using the bat to break the glass door to the store.

He was arrested Tuesday on burglary charges. Records don't list a lawyer.

I did it yesterday and didn't have that problem, but had to look through two pages to find the same story I had yesterday.

A Florida man died this weekend while reportedly trying to remove one of his pet pigeons from a power line by using “a 20-foot aluminum pool pole."

Elian Garcia-Rivera, 36, was electrocuted Saturday in West Palm Beach and found unresponsive near a pigeon coop on his property.

“He attempted to get a pigeon off of the power line in his backyard by using a 20-foot aluminum pool pole,” Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Teri Barbera told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Investigators say Garcia was thrown to the ground after the pole touched the power line. He was then taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Florida Man Obeys Law, Stays Out Of Trouble

April 11th, 2019
Excerpt:

MIAMI, FL—Florida man Clint Cooper has obeyed all state and federal laws and generally stayed out of trouble. He has not fired any guns in his backyard and hit random strangers with .22 caliber bullets. He hasn't attacked a McDonald's employee or hit his dad with a pizza for helping give birth to him.

He hasn't murdered any ex-girlfriends in an attempt to get rid of the devil or driven his Ferrari 360 into the ocean at top speed. He had no syringes hidden anywhere on his person and was not arrested in an argument over a cheesesteak.

Additionally, he has not burned his children to teach them about fire or fooled his family into believing his murdered wife was still alive. He has not chewed up any police cars after being arrested for cocaine possession and he has not found a boa constrictor in his car engine. He never harassed anyone in the park while drunk and shirtless, or threatened to kill them with kindness in reference to his machete, which he named kindness.

Florida man thought he was stealing opioids but instead got laxatives, police say

Joel Shannon
USA TODAY
Published 11:27 p.m. ET Jan. 29, 2019
Updated 11:52 p.m. ET Jan. 29, 2019

excerpt:

A Florida man is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing pills he thought were opioids. They were actually laxatives.

Peter Emery, 56, was caught on video taking pills from a lock box, according a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office affidavit.

He later told police that he took two pills thinking they were hydrocodone acetaminophen — a narcotic that contains an opioid. When he learned that they were "something else," he threw the pills away, the report says.

The pills were "Equate gentle laxatives" — an over-the-counter medication that can help relieve constipation, according to the product's listing on Walmart's website.
