Al Green Hints He’ll Move to Impeach Trump for ‘Bigotry’

It is unclear how far Rep. Al Green is on the articles and whether he plans to file a privileged resolution for impeachment.

Rep. Al Green (D-TX) on Tuesday suggested that he will soon bring articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump for “bigotry.”

While prominent Democrats have tiptoed around the question of whether Trump should be impeached before Special Counsel Robert Mueller finishes his investigation, Green said there are plenty of other reasons to impeach Trump, including Trump’s “bigotry.”

Without question, reservation, or hesitation, we should NOT allow ourselves to get back to bigotry as usual. https://t.co/p9QSAhUP7U

— Congressman Al Green (@RepAlGreen) December 11, 2018

“I am here to say without question, reservation, or hesitation that we should not allow ourselves to get back to bigotry as usual,” Green said on the House floor. “There seems to be a desire to avoid the question of bigotry, to avoid the question of bigotry emanating from the presidency. There seems to be a desire to move on to something else. Let’s find the other way to deal with the problem.”

Green said “that’s not what the people who suffer from the bigotry have to endure… they have to deal with the actual bigotry, the actual ugliness being fostered across the length and breadth of this country as a result of the bigotry.”

“They’re people who are suffering. The culture is changing. Bigotry is real. And people have to deal with it. Because they do, I don’t think we should allow bigotry to go unnoticed as it emanates from the presidency,” Green continued. “Because I don’t think so, I will make an announcement sometime next week, more than likely, as to whether or not … we will have additional articles of impeachment brought before the House.”

Green emphasized that he has “never interfered with the Mueller investigation” and does not “intend to interfere with it.”

“I just believe that we ought not to allow bigotry to go unnoticed… We ought not to try to get to a point in this country where we will allow bigotry to be nothing more than a talking point,” he said. “It ought be an action item…The greatest place to ascertain whether or not it is an action item is how we as members of Congress not only talk about it, but how do we vote when the issue is given an opportunity to be voted upon.”

Green introduced articles of impeachment against Trump last year and earlier this year insisted to Democracy Now that Trump “does not have to commit a crime to be impeached,” as Breitbart News reported.

“In fact, the president is not likely to be indicted, which means he’s not likely to be found guilty of a crime while he’s sitting, which means that if this comes before the House, it won’t come before the House as a president who has been found guilty, but rather as a president who is alleged to have committed certain offenses that are onerous to the Constitution and that harm society,” Green said. “And what this president is doing is harming society.”

Green also suggested that Trump could be impeached because of “incompetent behavior that is harmful to society” and cited Trump’s border policy and his reported “S-hole countries” remarks about “some countries in Africa, in the Caribbean, in South America.”

So this guy wants to impeach a sitting President, because said President might be intolerant of opinions that he himself may hold?

And what would those be? Where did he define them?

And why does congresscritter Al Green, look like he is from a 70's blacksploitaion movie? Is that "bigoted" of me to say?

He just wants some face time with the cameras. This will get that for him. He is a blowhard, the male version of Sheila Jackson Lee.

Yup, this is nothing more than a bid to grab some attention.

Watch it backfire, though, and cause more Americans to sympathize with Trump.

I've never seen the Democrats overplay their hand so much, as they do with this President. Another Trump success story. ;)

A whole lot of accusation with ZERO substance.

Every time I hear someone accuse Trump of bigotry or racism I ask them to provide an example of a bigoted or racist policy that Trump has put into place. They always draw a blank. The only political party that includes race in their policies and laws are democrats.

More proof of stupidest racist idiots being elected into office with their hands on the controls over our country.

God help us.

Bigotry is intolerance towards those with different opinions.

And I thought the first amendment fully protected bigotry....that’s how the left used it at least.

The culture is changing.

"Change" is not synonymous with progress. Something we learned over the eight years of 0bama.

Bigotry is real. And people have to deal with it.

Like Al Green does every morning when he looks in the mirror.

How do you impeach someone for "bigotry"? FFS... Occasional-Cortex' hero Woodrow Wilson showed Birth of a Nation for White House movie night. LBJ is quoted flatly (and truthfully) that he "would have those <censored>s voting Democratic for the next 200 years". Barack 0bama called his own grandmother "a typical white person".

Trump comes along and says "We need to reclaim our sovereignty and industry". And you "folks" (to borrow a Barryism) lose your sh!t. F'ing grow up.

"Why, exactly, is Trump a 'bigot'?"

"He's a bigot because shut up!"

Yep!

For those of you unfamiliar, ol' Al Green is a Houston-area rep. He's been on the Impeach Trump Train since the beginning.

Oh, except that, when Trump visited Houston after Harvey, there he was, ol' Al Green, standing right next to the president! (I was actually surprised to see more of Al Green during that time, rather than Queen of the Crown Weave herself.)

He would be Houston’s attention whore but for SJL, who manages to suck the air out of any venue she visits. I think he carries her chamber pot.
