Meme and animal lovers out there will be saddened to hear that the internet star Grumpy Cat has passed away. The news was revealed by Grumpy Cat's owners on her official Twitter account. Grumpy Cat's owners said the feline died on Tuesday, May 14, "at home in the arms of her mommy, Tabatha." The cause of death was complications from a recent urinary tract infection.

In announcing the passing, Grumpy Cat's owners said, "Besides being our baby and a cherished member of the family, Grumpy Cat has helped millions of people smile all around the world–even when times were tough. Her spirit will continue to live on through her fans everywhere."

Grumpy Cat, whose given name is "Tardar Sauce," originally shot to fame in 2012 after one of Grumpy Cat's owners posted a photo of her on Reddit. She quickly became a meme sensation due to the permanent frown she appeared to wear. Since then, the Grumpy Cat Twitter account has amassed over 1.5 million followers and her Instagram account has over 2 million followers.

Grumpy Cat was 7 years old when she passed away at home in Phoenix.

The cat that broke the internet. R.I.P. Tard (Yes, that was her given name. They changed it to "Tardar Sauce" after social media backlash).

I always though those pictures of this cat's frown were photoshopped?

7 years sure isn't very long for a cat to live.

I've got one indoors that just turned 16 (a long haired tabby), an outdoor one (a spotted bengal that was once feral) that is 20+ years old (both females).

As a kid we had one that lived to be 19 and was an indoor and outdoor alley/tom cat.

My cats have had UTIs before and all of them had survived them because I could recognize when they were having trouble and I always promptly took them to a competent vet that got them on the correct anti-biotics and I changed their food to something healthier plus I give them all a natural supplement that helps prevent UTIs.

It's hard to find a good competent vet as much as it is a good competent human doctor.
So many do not really know what they are doing and most people don't know any better to be able to see it.

My understanding is that the frown and scowl was largely due to his breed. That in reality he was actually very sweet and loving.
Yeah 7 is young for a cat.

The cat was older than 7. According to the article, that picture of the cat was taken 7 years ago. Clearly, the cat in the picture isn't newborn.

*A* photo of the cat was taken 7 years ago that started this, not necessarily that one shown. The last line of the article says Tard was 7.

The article also says "Grumpy Cat, whose given name is "Tardar Sauce," originally shot to fame in 2012 after one of Grumpy Cat's owners posted a photo of her on Reddit."

So unless that first photo was a picture of a newborn kitten (which it wasn't) there is a direct contradiction. I've gotta be honest with you: I trust my own mathematical accuracy much more than I trust the accuracy of "reporters".

The character "Grumpy Cat" has been around for seven years. Maybe the model, Tardar Sauce (ne' Tard), was older?

Internet sensation Grumpy Cat has died at age 7

Breitbart.com

MORRISTOWN, Ariz. (AP) — Her owners say Grumpy Cat, whose sourpuss demeanor became an internet sensation, has died at age 7.

Posting on social media Friday, Grumpy Cat’s owners wrote that she experienced complications from a urinary tract infection and “passed away peacefully” Tuesday “in the arms of her mommy.”

I just wish our resident leftists could learn to do that; learn to just admit being proven wrong.

Of course, if they were that mature and intelligent, they wouldn't be leftists in the first place.

I hear ya'. I have found that even if I disagree with someone if they remain civil, intelligent, respectful and most of all honest I will often consider them a friend. One thing that is always fun to do is use previous conversions or instances to point out not only their stupidity but hypocracy. An honest person at least stays the same no matter the situation.
