Article:

Protecting the country by defending the border is a risky and potentially deadly endeavor, as one law enforcement officer charged with that duty recently learned the hard way in Texas.

A Border Patrol agent was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after a suspect opened fire on him Friday during a routine vehicle stop near a town along the border with Texas.

Agent injured, suspect killed by return fire

San Antonio CBS affiliate KENS reported that two Border Patrol agents conducted a stop on a vehicle near the town of Brackettville, Texas that resulted in one of two suspects a 25-year-old male U.S. citizen opening fire on the agents.

While one of the agents was hit with gunfire and wounded, the other agent promptly returned fire on the suspect and killed him.

The second suspect in the vehicle, a 32-year-old female U.S. citizen, was taken into custody without further incident.

A brief statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) noted that "agents secured the scene, requested medical assistance and rendered first aid" in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

I'm sorry the good guy was wounded, but I'm glad to learn those wounds aren't life-threatening.

And best of all, one more worthless piece of sh*t dead.

:woohoo:

I love happy endings! God bless the border patrol and I wish a speedy recovery to the officer wounded.
