Justin Trudeau: Canada PM seeks to put blackface scandal behind him

BBC
9/20/19

EXCERPT:

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has sought to put the blackface scandal behind him with an announcement on gun control as he seeks re-election.

Flanked by cabinet ministers he said his party would ban military-style assault rifles if they win next month.

His campaign went into damage control on Wednesday night following the publication of a photo of Mr Trudeau wearing brownface at a costume gala.

Two other similar instances were made public within hours.

Mr Trudeau fielded questions about those incidents for a third day, including about how he was dealing with displeasure at the revelations within his party's own ranks.

"I let them down, I let a lot of people down, and I'm very sorry for that," he told reporters in Toronto.

3 blackface scandals in a day. Funny the left seems ok with it.

As I recall, that was the exact same diversion Harvey Weinstein tried to use after his sex harassment became public: "Looking to move on, will be making a huge donation to gun control," etc.

Found it:

"I am going to need a place to channel that anger so I've decided that I'm going to give the NRA my full attention. I hope Wayne LaPierre will enjoy his retirement party..."

That's not the LEAST of what he needs to put behind him. How about having a mom who shows the world what "Canadian beaver" is all about?

Sympathies there, with a step-mum who was a wannabee Playboy model in the '60s. But I'm not running for PM either.

"Hey, Justin, I've seen yer mum naked."
:tongue2: That's worth a good razzing on the playground.

(Gallery Magazine, 1979)

I almost feel sorry for the guy. Almost.

Hmmmm.....

I wonder how many things that are not acceptable or objectionable will somehow in some way be considered racist, homophobic, xenophobic or what ever else tomorrow?
One of the worst things we can ever do if look back at something and judge by today's standards, not those at the time. ESPECIALLY when it comes to cultural or norms.
It's one hell of slippery slope.

Ya' gotts' ta' love the bee.

Something we as a society must do though is before judging something from long ago look at what was the norms, taboos, legal, or such. Anything less will only cause a misguided, mis informed and incorrect opinion or belief. Be very careful when judging what happened in the past by the standards of the present.

I think at some point in the future, IF the human race survives that long, those in the future will look back of OUR era and say "WTF???".

I mean, there are certain "ground rules" that I think have stood the test of time. Irrespective of any particular religion, There were societal "norms" from at least the Code of Hammurabbi to at least the 1960s. YES, it was imperfect at times, but overall "worked". But western culture has largely thrown out the baby with the bathwater.

In the year 2525...

I laugh at the "Don't judge Trudeau by modern standards" crap. He is on camera multiple times at the turn of the 21st Century. In his early 30s. Well soaked and brined in PC politics.

The excuses that the Left makes for these people. I believe truly that they are trying to establish an aristocracy in the United States to undo our 500 years of self-determination, frontier spirit, and pluralism. The defense of Trudeau reinforces that belief. They want subjects not citizens.
