Something that must be understood in this mix is the fact China can't feed even close to all it's people. Guess who sells them the bulk of that food? That's right, us. History has shown that when populations get hungry enough for long enough there is civil unrest, revolutions and a whole lotta' trouble for the ruling gov. Sure China will just shoot people in the street and even anyone recording the event, BUT, you can only do that so many times to so many people. Watching your loved ones starve to death while the ruling class stay fat tends to make people desperate and not give a damn if they live or die, a bullet is a much faster and easier way to die than starvation.

They have to buy their soybeans and pigs somewhere.

Yup, although China has a huge land mass, only a small portion of it is really farm able(I think forget the correct term).
Plus, like most Communist countries they are inefficient as f' when it comes to this and then have to throw so much resources at the operation in general that it may not necessarily be all that productive. China will have no issue in starving their people, typical Communist Country, YOU exist to serve the Government, not the other way around. That means your expected to sacrifice, even your life, your families life and everyone else. BUT, there is a breaking point where most people will say enough and essentially revolt.

I read an article which was dated about five years ago stating China had or has about 315 million people in the ag industry.
And they still have to import billions in food? Deer Lord, with twenty five percent of your population in ag you should not only be importing nothing they should be the biggest food exporter in the world. If Wiki is right we have about 3.2 million people working in the ag industry here. That's not even a comparison in efficiency. With the numbers in China they will damn near be eaten' everything they produce with not much left over. Twenty five of your population vs one percent producing food.

Prior to the Communist revolution in Russia, the Ukraine used to feed half of Eastern Europe and Russia. Then the Bolsheviks came in and told the owners of the farm land that they didn't own their land anymore and all of their crops were the property of the Communist government. Naturally, people resisted, but because they were unarmed, they couldn't fight back. Instead, the Bolsheviks took their crops and left them to starve. It is estimated between 5 - 10 MILLION starved to death mainly because the people saw that no matter how much they worked and planted the next year, the Commies wanted it all. Why work hard to make an efficient operation only to keep the Commie elites fat? There's no fundamental difference between what happened in the Ukraine and in China. If the farmers in China owned the land and the crops they produced, these farmers would be doing everything they can to cut costs to maximize their profit. Since there is no profit incentive, it is only logical it takes 25% of the population to produce food and still that's not enough. Socialism never works in the real world and only causes immeasurable misery on the masses (the deplorables).

Exactly, why work harder when you get nothing extra for it. Instead you do the absolute bare minimum. Throw in a lot of make work to keep the people busy and 'working' and you have the most inefficient, cost over running, worst run system in the world.
Knowing China they won't give a damn if 10-20-30 million or more starve to death. Just less mouths to feed and less people to have to control. BUT, what I don't believe they are counting on is that eventually the people will revolt, the only question is will the military stay loyal or will they join the fight against the gov? As is you have essentially two classes in China the very wealthy who have it good, and the vast majority who are very poor and near starving.

Saw this in Okinawa, all the Chinese tourists, rude as f', arrogant, and caused most of the accidents. There has only been one time when I have ever been in Japan that I wanted to lay some one out and had to fight every fiber of my being not to do so. That one time was this past July when I was visiting the Churaumi Aquarium near Nago. In speaking with my in laws they said quite clearly this was the typical attitude of Chinese tourists. I had to explain to them that when you come to the U.S. most Chinese people you meet are the exact opposite, especially those who own any type of shop or business. My guess is that those who escape China, come here poor, work there asses of are grateful and happy to be here. Those who have money, power etc tend to be arrogant pricks.

Also recomend not buying any type of produce which lays on the ground that comes from South of the border.
Campi Lobacter Jejunti and Guillian Bare/Miller Fischer varient may be extremely rare, but that don't mean it is any less 'fun'.

Trump said openly that he wants manufacturing jobs to return to the United States. Instead of cheering Joe Biden's favorite three letter word "J-O-B-S", the haters are crying that new factories will accelerate climate change. Never mind that China is the worst polluter on the face of the earth. As long as iPhones are affordable so they can continue tweeting "orange man bad" while driving in rush hour traffic.
