Chris Christie Reportedly In Running To Be Next Attorney General

New York Post
By Bob Fredericks
November 8, 2018 | 11:39am

Excerpt:

Team Trump is considering Chris Christie to replace fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions ó and the former New Jersey governor was at the White House on Thursday morning, according to multiple reports.

President Trump canned Sessions on Wednesday after spending months pillorying him for recusing himself from the Justice Departmentís probe of Russian election meddling and possible collusion with the presidentís campaign.

Christie was axed as the head of Trumpís transition team, reportedly at the behest of Jared Kushner, whose father, Charles, spent time in a federal pen after he was prosecuted on tax evasion and other charges by Christie when he was a federal prosecutor.

But CBS News, citing a pair of sources, reported that he was among the candidates under consideration despite the bad blood between him and the first son-in-law, and other news outlets reported later that he and Matthew Whitaker, whom Trump named acting AG, were at the White House.

The short list of possible replacements for Sessions ó an immigration and law-and-order hardliner who was one of Trumpís earliest and most loyal aides ó includes Rudy Giuliani; Florida AG Pam Bondi, a Trump favorite; and lame-duck Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who lost his bid for re-election Tuesday.

I'm not a fan of Bill Cunningham, a radio personality, but I heard him commenting awhile ago about what should be part of an Attorney General's job and that would include having your President's back.

JFK appointed his brother and Obama had Holder and Lynch, two absolute lackeys who would ignore or sanction, if necessary, any of his BS.

Kris Kobach and Rudy Giuliani would fill the loyal lackey role well. Not so sure about Christie or Walker.

I don't much care for Chris Christie. But if he'll prosecute Hillary Clinton......ANYBODY who will prosecute that career criminal......then give 'em the job.

:yeahthat: :exactly:

Christie is as crooked as a dog's hind leg.

We need a straight shooter with a clean past.

Christie is NOT that guy.

Crashing everyone's computers, disabling user's login passwords, hiding the printer/copier's IP addresses, bugging the email and network systems with "security updates" can't be that hard to do?

Our highly paid IT staff at work always keeps ours messed up everytime that they make any changes.

Our system is so "secure" that we cannot even get on to use it half of the time.

Mr. President, there must be better choices available than this guy. Could you look outside the NY/NJ/FL corridor for once?

It's pretty obvious to me that there were plenty of things to hold Obama and Hillary accountable for if we had had Justice Department people like Holder and Lynch and Comey and Mueller who actually cared about fairness and justice.

And I remember awhile ago when we used to argue a little bit that I was always kinda disappointed in your partisanship and easy dismissal of a sense of transcendent justice.

Anyway, yeah, I wish President Trump had a great choice lined up to be the next AG but, really, he's had to be thinking about this choice for a long time and nobody knows better than he does what a crucial pick this is.

There are a good number of people on a short list that I saw on Fox last night while having dinner with friends.

The last thing we need to do is recycle people who have been disappointing in their roles in the past and put them in new positions where they can fail even more spectacularly.

The unknowns are sometimes the better choice because they don't quite have so much muck sticking to them...
