There is one reason those under 30 or so favor socialism. They are totally ignorant when it comes to economics especially when it comes to command economics run by government and market economics controlled by consumers. One constricts freedom and one frees everyone who is willing to work for their own betterment.

American education is totally rotten and it was made so purposely. There are only two or three colleges and universities free of the plague of collectivist control. The products of our educational system are on display 24/7 on the internet, TV, print media, arts and even our religious institutions. The bedrock of freedom has been ripped away in less than 100 years.

How else could people like Elizabeth Warren, AOC, Cory Booker, Beto O'Rourke, crazy Maisie and all the rest be taken seriously ?

It can't go on without a serious reckoning.

I couldn't agree more, Coach. I've been lamenting the intentional disintegration of the American educational system for years now.

Given that it’s done on purpose, what is the final goal? Is there even a pretense that it’s beneficial to society?

Leftists are like terrorists. They want to destroy, not build and create. To destroy is a thousand times easier - so it’s not difficult.

But ultimately, control towards what purpose? Just because they’re power hungry self centered bastards? That’s it? Seems so lame.... like you’d like to hear there’s a purpose, like some kind of utopia. But there isn’t. Just destruction

I can imagine our current president overseeing the "serious reckoning" that's needed, but we'll have to wait first to see how the next 6 years unfold. 2 years isn't enough time to undo the mess Obama's created, but another 6 might be. I noted in another thread that during his 8 years, labor participation in the country went from just over 67% to 62.6%, while at the same time, legislation was passed to allow young people coverage on their parents' health insurance plan 'til age 25. It's tough when you can't find a job, and given that scenario, it's no surprise that young people unable to support themselves would have an unfavorable view of Capitalism.

Our last best hope is the Bulldog in the White House and our biggest obstacle is the fake news that's attacking him 24/7. I do think the president will come out on top, we're just not there yet...
