Admiral McRaven in NYT: Remove Trump from Office 'The Sooner, the Better'

Article:

Retired Admiral William McRaven has published an op-ed in Friday's New York Times titled, "Our Republic Is Under Attack From the President," urging that Trump be removed from office — "the sooner, the better."

McRaven's op-ed gives a military imprimatur to what President Donald Trump has already likened to a "coup," as Democrats attempt to impeach him with barely a year to go before the next presidential election.

The admiral, well-respected for his role in overseeing the operation to kill Al Qaeda terrorist Osama bin Laden in 2011, argues that senior military leaders have lost confidence in the president and feel he is a threat to the nation.

"As I stood on the parade field at Fort Bragg," McRaven recalled, "one retired four-star general, grabbed my arm, shook me and shouted, 'I don't like the Democrats, but Trump is destroying the Republic!'"

McRaven does not argue that President Trump has done anything wrong in particular, but that he has no respect for America's values. These values, McRaven declares, involve a commitment to "help the weak and stand up against oppression and injustice" around the world.

"[W]hat will happen to the Kurds, the Iraqis, the Afghans, the Syrians, the Rohingyas, the South Sudanese and the millions of people under the boot of tyranny or left abandoned by their failing states?" McRaven asks, without explicitly calling for military intervention in any of the regions mentioned.

His criticism goes beyond that voiced in a Washington Post op-ed last year, in which he merely promised "criticism" of the president in the wake of the removal of former CIA director John Brennan's security clearance.

William McCraven is welcome to play World Cop now that he's a civilian. Eisenhower warned us about this type of jagoff.

When did we become the world's cop?

This sounds more like globalist, emotive nonsense coming out of aged flower children and the current crop of college womyn and their soyboys.

Incorrect, Admiral McRib, our commitment is to defend our nation first and foremost. All the rest is at our discretion and always has been.

Grow up.

Truman's response as to why he fired General Douglas MacArthur:

“I fired him because he wouldn’t respect the authority of the President…I didn’t fire him because he was a dumb son of a b_tch, although he was, but that’s not against the laws for generals. If it was, half to three-quarters of them would be in jail.”

Like I said before, nothing like a little tyranny to lighten the intellectual load. These idiots are the threat to the Republic, NOT the POTUS.

Not sure about the whole Deep State thing. He is no longer employed in the service of the US Government and the only influence he has is his previous position and his connections. That may be valuable in lobbying.

He is just another self-important Flag Officer that rose through the highest officer ranks during the Obama years. What kind of person gets Stars during the administration of an extreme leftist? Someone like McCraven.

Funny how we went from one leftist darling (claimed to be a Republican but never acted like one and loved by the left), Powell, who said we shouldn't go anywhere with the military without clear and valid strategic objectives and the willingness to apply overwhelming power to the problem, to this guy who talks the "world's cop" line. Also funny how pulling a significant force out of Iraq and abandoning them was good, but pulling a handful of advisers out of Syria and "abandoning the Kurds" is bad. Leftists are nothing if not hypocrites.

I was alive at the time, it was a BIG deal. MacArthur wanted to win the "police action", Truman started us down the road of war with no victory. MacArthur had a vanity problem but "give em hell Harry" was no shrinking violet himself. Truman acted within his authority wrong as the policy was.

Admiral Craven was in charge of getting Osama... Is that the same Osama bin Laden that they dumped at sea without any visual evidence to corroborate that they DID, in fact, KILL Osama bin Laden as we were all told while Obama's people crowed about their victory while also happily outing the members of Seal Team 6?
