Stupid Is As Congress Does

So it's the middle of the night and I'm sitting here wondering what I'm going to do if I lose my job. You see, I work in the healthcare industry and my clients are private insurance companies. Since the house just passed the public healthcare plan, if this bill makes it through the Senate, then it's only a matter of time before all private insurance companies go out of business.

I've been down this road before, worrying about how I was going to make a living when I could not get a job but this time it's different. In the past, when I was laid off twice, I always knew that if only I could get my foot in the door, I could still make a decent living as long as I stayed within my same industry. Don't get me wrong. I'm not crazy about the insurance industry but seeing as I don't have a college education, the only other jobs I could get paid much less for someone like myself since I would be so green.

It's times like this when I really miss having living parents. At least if they were still alive, I would have some place to go if all else fails.

Yes, I know I'm going to the extremes here in my worrying but this is my Blog and I can worry if I want to.

What I don't get is how can so many Americans be so oblivious to how wrong it is for the government to take over private industries? If you ask someone personally if they want to live off the government dough, they will speechify how they've worked for everything they've gotten in life and of course they don't want handouts. But in the very next breath, they will espound on the evils of big business and how they need to be controlled. Never once does it seem to dawn on them that government bureaucracy and red tape is much worse than any evil industrialists.

Then what about Congress? Did they not hear about those two governors in NJ and VA who just won by a landslide defeating opponents from the same party as the house majority? While I can see a couple of folks being so ideologically driven that they are willing to push through government-run healthcare no matter the consequences, how can so many of them not see the writing on the wall?

What is it going to take to wake up the rest of America? Shoot, most of them have no idea that they are going to have to give up their incandescent light bulbs in just a little over 2 years. I want to scream from the hilltops, PEOPLE WAKE UP!!! This is no rantings of a nut-case or someone so Ayn Randish, that they see conspiracy theories around every bend. Yes, I'm a pro-lifer and a fundie but that doesn't mean I'm stupid.

Speaking of stupid, Congress just acted stupidly and I don't need to wait on any more information to come to that conclusion.

Elusively yours,
ilja

Just like the fascination to "make history" in electing the first (half) black president, this Congress seems obsessed with making history and congratulating themselves for how great they are in this "historic" moment.

It makes me want to puke.

I have been worrying the way you are about cap and trade. I work in the petrochemical industry. I understand your fears and sympathise. If this administration and congress continue on their current path everyone will be in your position, it will only be a matter of time. It becomes more clear each day that this group wants to create a government that the people are completly subordinate to. They will give us our food, water housing and healthcare. They are changing the fundamental nature of our government. We will no longer have the ability to pursue life, liberty and happiness we will have our "share" doled out to us by our benevolent dictators.

I, for one, am not so certain that being all "Ayn Randish" isn't exactly what we need at the moment!
I started a potential blog post several months ago. I do that a lot, start something, get pretty involved in it, then have something else win the battle for my attention, and lose the passion that I need to continue with the project.
But the title has stuck in my mind, "It started with the Doctors". The Doctors were to be the "John Galt's" this time around, and they might yet be.
Certainly some community of people have got to be the focal point of the, let's call it what it HAS to be, Revolution against this mind numbingly massive power grab by the current leaders in Washington.
There is a boat load of not so pent up frustration, anger, angst and fear in this country right now. People are flat out scared that not only the lives of their children and grandchildren are being forever altered, for the worse, by Congress and the President, but that in very short course, their own lives are going to cease to resemble even their worst fears.
Many of us have watched over the last few years as the Government of the People, By the People and For the People became not a Representative Government of, by and for the People, but the Ruling Elite.
Heck, there isn't even a whole lot of effort to hide the intent anymore. One has to dig a little to find
it all, but throughout the last several massive spending bills, people have looked and found the
not so subtle Government Control Creep that is the inevitable result of accepting "Help".
As massive spending bill after massive spending bill works it's way through a 'process' that 99% of Americans have no understanding of, we're told by our very own "Dear Leader" that the obvious and clear result of the new Laws, is NOT what it appears to be. The Government doesn't "want' to run Financial Institutions, or Car Companies, or by your Mortgage Holder, or............and yet they are, and now they seek to be the Doctors as well.
And every time one bothers to watch or listen to the very scripted public events like on C-SPAN, or a Sunday Morning "News" show, we see the Ruling Majority declare that every problem is ONLY solvable by increased Government Regulation, more Control of every detail of day to day life and, always, more Government spending.
More and more taxes, fees, fines, mandates, more of everything that history has PROVED the Government is inept at.
What this country needs is the Anti Obama. Someone who can serve as the "John Galt" of the core principles of the majority of the Nation's Citizens. Someone to stand up and say SHOUT, "I'm mad as hell, and I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!"
For now the 'best' we seem to have is a first term Governor from Louisiana, or a former Governor from Alaska, or a former Senator from Tennessee, or a former Governor from Massachusetts, or..the list isn't that long of people that, once again, the MSM is touting as the 'front runners' for 2012.
And, while I like Senator Thompson, and was excited by Governor Palin, neither of them are the lightening rod we need. (We as Conservatives, but also "We" as in "We the people".)
As I said, I believe that there is a boat load of anger, resentment, fear and the resulting energy pent up in a majority of Americans.
We surely need to get all "Ayn Randish", if we are going to find and connect with our John Galt, and take this country back from the "Progressives" who look to 'save' us from a fate they constructed in the first place.
Sorry to have stolen so much of your blog space, edit as you see fit.

We won't have to worry, Ilja. Under Pelosicare people like us have a duty to kill ourselves within five years as mandated by the reviewers who've never met us; but in their infinite wisdom know what is best for us and the Motherland/Party/society.

I hope you lose your job. You sound like a miserable, sorry excuse for a human being. It's trash like you that's driving our country into the ground.

Wow.

I've been jobless and it isn't fun. I wouldn't mind a health insurance IF I didn't have to pay in taxes for late term abortions and other eugenics minded issues. Have you read the 3,000 or so pages? Do you know if your tax dollars are going to go to illegals who are funnelling monies back to their home countries? Do you have any idea what's in it? If so, please explain.

I'm in the healthcare industry as well and it is extremely frightening. Anyone with any feelings of loosing a job is absolutely frightened. For you to show such little sympathy on that is disgusting or you haven't been through it. Wake up. This is going to suck the rest of the economy dry as a bone. We don't need reformed healthcare. We need to start with stopping the mistakes in the hospitals jacking up the prices for the lawyers, malpractice insurance, etc. We need to add staff to the hospitals so everyone isn't running on a dangerous (to the patient) skeleton crew. We need to somehow minimize the non-profit hospitals and/or have some sort of a cap on them where people are held responsible to pay. THAT is where the tax money should be going. To BUILD a better health SYSTEM not an insurance. We would have a much healthier Country if we didn't have so many screw ups from a burnt out staff and lawsuits.

Nah.....we should just pray for him and his health once this healthcare reform goes through. Hopefully, he'll get the ICD if God forbid he need one in his 70s. It's all about eugenics. :crybaby:

A Doctor, A Lawyer, A Little Boy And A Priest
A doctor, a lawyer, a little boy and a priest were out for a Sunday afternoon flight on a small private plane. Suddenly, the plane developed engine trouble. In spite of the best efforts of the pilot, the plane started to go down. Finally, the pilot grabbed a parachute, yelled to the passengers that they had better jump, and then he bailed out.

Unfortunately, there were only three parachutes remaining. The doctor grabbed one and said "I'm a doctor, I save lives, so I must live," and jumped out.

The lawyer then said, "I'm a lawyer and lawyers are the smartest people in the world. I deserve to live." He also grabbed a parachute and jumped.

The priest looked at the little boy and said, "My son, I've lived a long and full life. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you. Take the last parachute and live in peace."

The little boy handed the parachute back to the priest and said, "Not to worry, Father. The 'smartest man in the world' just took off with my back pack."

Sorry was busy reading a tweet from an adamant 'pro-choice' person about gun control and 'how many children have to die before we do something'?

John Mauldin relates the details of a conversation he had with John Boehner, the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

At the :50 Maudlin describes Boehner telling him that Obama has,
“…balls made out of marshmallows…”

If that is true, why do we see Boehner continually backing down and rolling over while Obama stands firm and never compromises?

NEVER FORGET!

Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin’s long road home ended Saturday in a blaze of yellow ribbons, the silent tribute of people who lined the roads, and the respect of thousands more who filed past his coffin at a public visitation . . . “If four people showed up, that’s OK with me,” said Keith Maupin, the soldier’s father, as he took a mid-afternoon break outside the Civic Center, where many came up to him to shake his hand or give him a hug . . . Matt Maupin became the face of the war in Iraq for thousands here and across the country in April 2004, when an Arab TV station aired a tape showing the Union Township soldier kneeling and surrounded by masked men carrying automatic rifles . . .Four years and millions of prayers later, a tip from an Iraqi citizen led U.S. soldiers to the farm area northwest of Baghdad where Matt Maupin’s remains were found on March 20 . . .Scoutmaster David Bacon said the boys of Troop 511 had been well aware of the story of Matt Maupin and wanted to pay their own tribute.“I’ve talked to them many times about Matt,” said Bacon, whose cousin, Lance Cpl. David Kreuter, was killed in Iraq in 2005. “They understand it was the sacrifice of young men like Matt that gives us the freedom to meet every Monday night. There are places in the world where Boy Scouting is not allowed.” http://i147.photobuc.../3yqo3h0.gifPFC Keith Matthew MaupinCaptured in IraqApril 9, 2004

We Owe Them So Much

http://i147.photobuc.../troopsspin.gifNever Mind the Cost by c.m.steppe ©2001 There's a young man far from home, Called in time of war; Sent to defend our freedom On some distant foreign shore. On some distant foreign shore. We pray You keep him safe, We pray You keep him strong, We pray You send him safely home ... For he's been away so long. For he's been away so long. There's a young woman far from home, Serving U.S.A. with pride. Her every step is strong and sure, Courage in every stride. Courage in every stride. We pray You keep her safe, We pray You keep her strong, We pray You send her safely home ... For she's been away too long. For she's been away too long. Bless those who wait their safe return. Bless those who mourn the lost. Bless those who serve this country well, Never mind the cost. Never mind the cost. God, Bless America!

An Email From God?

I got this in an email today and though it doesn't say who wrote it, I don't doubt these things could have happened.'MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL' You say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news On September 11, 2001. Neither will I. I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called his wife to say 'Good-Bye.' I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, 'Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK..I am ready to go.' I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children. I held her up as she tried to understand his words and as she realized he wasn't coming home that night. I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a woman cried out to Me for help. 'I have been knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!' I said. 'Of course I will show you the way home - only believe in Me now.' I was at the base of the building with the Priest ministering to the injured and devastated souls. I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He heard my voice and answered. I was on all four of those planes, in every seat, with every prayer. I was with the crew as they were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the believers there, comforting and assuring them that their faith has saved them. I was in Texas , Virginia , California , Michigan , Afghanistan ... I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news. Did you sense Me? I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew every name - though not all know Me. Some met Me for the first time on the 86th floor. Some sought Me with their last breath. Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the smoke and flames; 'Come to Me... this way... take my hand.' Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me. But, I was there. I did not place you in the Tower that day. You may not know why, but I do. However, if you were there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for Me? Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey for you. But someday your journey will end. And I will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are 'ready to go.' I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.
