News flash geniuses: It's not HIS HOUSE SEAT. The Seat belongs to the people of Baltimore, they can vote for whom ever they want to fill it. It does not belong to the corpse nor to his wife nor to anyone else but the people that the seat represents. I am tired of this nonsense about "seats" belonging to anyone, they don't own them, they didn't make payments and they surely are not entitled to them. She wants it, she can run for it like everyone else.

:exactly:

Also the fact that people believe that it can just be simply handed down to another surviving family member?

I am SICK of most of this country being run by an handful of families like it's a hierarchy? :redhot:

While I agree. Another, POS will take it over. Regardless of name.

Yes, this is Baltimore we're talking about?

A city rife with POS scumbags.

Even the title says she is expected to run for the seat. That means that the people in Cummings district get to choose her or pick someone else. She hasn't "inherited" anything, as far as this congressional seat is concerned, and hasn't actually said one way or the other.

My bet is that the party elders approached her already and are laying the groundwork for her election into this seat.

This is a signal of a done deal.

And since she is 20 years younger than him, she will hold this seat for decades to come.

Same as it ever was...

She's got to keep the graft coming in so she can keep the payoffs going out and she needed to announce so soon after his death to reassure all of those on her dole that nothing is going to change. After all, there's no loyalty amongst thieves!

I've got to side with Ladybird on this one. The article says she's expected to run. Not that she's announced.

Although, knowing the history. The residents of that district will not appoint someone who acts in their best interests.

In English politics they were called "rotten buroughs", here they are democrat gerrymandered districts. In both cases they are rotten.

Yes. How long has the Hunter family (CA) held a seat?
(This is a whataboutism)

The scale is ridiculously skewed to the left. Which party dominates the state of California ?

:biglaugh:

You choose a bad example - as if that seat would make much difference in California politics. But I don't care what party they are from. Just because you are related to someone who held a political office it doesn't mean you are anymore qualified for that position than the next person. It all comes down to name recognition and familiarity. People will often vote for the name they recognize.
