As y'all know I am 80 years old and lived through the rocky 60's and integration turmoil here in the South. I still maintain contact with family and friends scattered north, south, east and west across the country. I have almost daily contact with minorities and have had for over 40 years. I won't belabor the point but as I watch what comes out of Washington D.C., the media, Hollywood, the entertainment industry, the education establishment and political class it has become obvious to me that WE aren't the problem.

While the elites are constantly looking for evidence of racism and discord everywhere the vast majority of Americans of all races, ethnicity, religions and social strata go about life day to day as happy as clams.

Unlike Pogo, I think we have found the enemy and it ain't us.

I agree with almost everything you said, Coach. I have only one small disagreement. It's where you said...:

...(re: the part I bolded)...Ten years ago I would have agreed with that. But ever since Barack Obama deliberately inflamed racial discord and strife and tensions, destroying decades of advances in race relations, I can no longer agree that "the vast majority" of black people in America are content and happy and satisfied with life. There are vast swaths of the "black community" who are incredibly racist, and seem to spend every waking moment in a desperate search for something...anything...to be "outraged" about, racially. A few perfect examples are the idiotic notions of "white privilege" and "cultural appropriation" and "reparations".

Let's face it, in today's America if you're a white man, you're automatically the "bad guy". And unfortunately, this racist anti-white bullsh*t is having the very unfortunate effect of creating white racism where it never existed before. Even here in the hard-core-left-wing PacNW there are countless white people who never used to have a racist bone in their body, who are now getting to the point of utter disgust with "the black community". And who can blame them?

I understand what you are saying but look where you live, it's a hotbed of progressive/socialist filth. I have a couple idiot relatives who fall for the horsesh!t. and it is infuriating. I understand the threat which is why it's so important to isolate and point out its most ridiculous aspects. In the meantime I refuse to play their cynical games.

But that's exactly the point: Even here where leftist capitulation to all things "politically correct" has been king for decades...even here where almost everybody always used to mindlessly go along with all things leftist...even here where the vast majority of white people have never had a racist bone in their body...even here it's finally beginning to sink in how incredibly racist huge swaths of "the black community" have become.

Ok..but now what do we do?...Maybe we could get some of the black folks here to explain their side to us?...and we could actually have a dialogue...One thing that has always kinda bugged me is: When in the service many years ago I had Black friends at the base and we partied together and did the same silly stuff that young guys do and all was well..But, if some of the other Black Dudes came around there was a subtle (sometimes not too subtle) change in how they treated me..what is that? Was it "Not Cool" to be hanging with a white dude? or just some innocent culture thing?

As to "Reparations" I have one question..How much$$$..seriously how much would it take to never have to hear about slavery again? You quote a figure and we write the check and we never have to listen to that stuff again..period! Or is the "Reparation thing" about something else?

Last thing...is there any way to teach an ignorant Kracker how to dance?...I'll trade swimming lessons for dance lessons cuz I hear that the Brothers can't swim and hell I for sure can't dance...Maybe we could find a way? :whistling:

I really don't think there's much of anything "we" (i.e. white people) can do. Until black people themselves (especially black "leaders") wake up to their incredibly ubiquitous racism and acknowledge how self-destructive it is, it will just grow worse and worse. But that will never happen as long as they're still blaming "whitey" for all their problems. Right now they're too busy deluding themselves it's Trump who's the "racist" () to spend any serious time or effort on objective introspection.

You can try to understand the difference between institutional racism and discrimination.

That would be a good start.

Perfect example of Monty’s point. You just can’t help yourself, can you?

There is no seeing through the trees with you. Maybe if you take that race chip off of your shoulder, you would. A better start would be for you to stop being part of the problem.

Then by all means, continue to believe there is nothing that old white men can do to help overcome institutional racism.

That’s your right.

Are you so daft that you miss your very own institutional bigotry in the post above? Yes, yes you are.

My bet is that when the “old white men” die off, the current young “white men” will become the new “old white men” doing nothing about “institutional racism.” Correct?

Lather, rinse, repeat...

LOL. Coming from you of all people that's laughable indeed, since you're one of the worse examples of the very problems I was talking about. People like me were fighting racism for decades before you were even born.

But in any case, thanks for proving my point.

Who are the people in the most important position to help fight “racism” in today’s America? Why yes, it’s black people.

Only when you, That_Guy, and your friends, get your act together, can there be no racism.

"Institutional racism" is abstract bull<censored> that is impossible to define so it can change constantly. It was invented by so-called "intellectuals" in their villainous attempt to keep race grievance growing. There is no surprise that my favorite delivery driver is using it as an argument.
