If she was Jewish or black would you still side with the owner. I mean Sarah's race and religion. You libs seem to want to bring back segregation. You are already brought back eugenics while calling it pro-choice. Next thing you know you libs will force us conservatives to wear an armband on are arms if u ever get back into power. You guys are the new Nazis.

Sanders wasn’t asked to leave because of her skin color or religion. That is against the law. Refusing service to those you find abhorrent is not.

It is.

The place is in Lexington VA, an artsy-fartsy college town. It's the home of Washington and Lee U, whose 1,800+ students and 1,000+ employees make up over 1/3 of the town's total population of 7,042 (2010).

Lexington is a donut hole of blue in a sea of red. I live about 45 minutes from this place, and have for about 15 years. My brother lives there. I have never been there nor have I ever heard of it (from my brother or anyone else), not because of the left thinking of the owner but rather because nobody has ever said to me "Dude! You totally have to go get the Ginsburger and Fries plate at the Red Hen! It's awesome!"

So she got donations. That's not a sustainable business plan.

So she has been in the news some and people who do not live there have driven by for the novelty and/ or support of it. Also not a business plan. Lexington isn't really on the way anywhere.

I don't care who she serves or does not serve, but I wouldn't be hi-fiving much about how awesome a business decision it was to tick off half the country in an area where that half is represented quite a bit more than the other half.

Kudos to her if she pulls it off.

Yeah, I'll buy that. Growing up in Indiana, Bloominton (Home of IU) was largely the same: "donut hole of blue in a sea of red."

Having lived in Portland ORE for 10 years, largely the same too there as well.

It is a shame if it helped them. We altered our vacation and conference plans to avoid the entire community. I actually wrote the city council three times with no reply, so as far as I am conserved the entire city can go furry kitten itself. Her right to serve whom she wants but clearly she nor her community wants my business. I go through there about once every 3-4 months and use to stop now and again. Now, nope.

Good to know. White woman comes into a restaurant with her family and is chased out; not because she caused a scene, but because she’s “abhorrent”.

Bigot much, LB? At least your consistent, right? Would you afford me the same support if I threw a bunch of neck beards out because they smelled of goatschidt and appeared “abhorrent” to me?

:exactly:

Yet Ladybird never sees anything abhorrent when it comes to actual criminals, freaks, deviants, degenerates and lowlifes?

So, you openly admit that you are perfectly A-OK with outright political discrimination?
We already know that you're OK with bigotry so long as it suits your proggy beliefs?

Nothing but a crybaby snowflake SJW who preaches tolerance/acceptance for their political beliefs while does the exact opposite for those who don't, plus believes that it's perfectly A-OK to actively and criminally harass people in public for their conservative political views.

To your type obeying the rule of law, being responsible, living a clean moral productive life and expecting others to do the same is considered abhorrent. To you all that is bad is good and all that is good is bad.

Never mind if the person was sitting quietly in an orderly manner minding their own business?

What goes around comes around.

This has zero to do with race. Trying to make it about race is disingenuous. A business owner has the right to refuse service on the basis the Red Hen owner expressed, and I support that right. I would feel the same about a pro-life restaurateur refusing to serve the head of Planned Parenthood.

So if Barack Obama came into my restaurant with some associates, and I asked him to leave because I found his administrations policies
abhorrent, that would be okay?

(And I know if that happened the media would be all over me.)

There you go. Absolutely would support your telling Obama to go kick rocks.

There are places this is illegal (Washington DC), but not where the Red Hen is located.

Thanks, Ladybird. I am grateful for your support. And it appears the both of us are consistent. But I believe in this case, the media--and probably the legal system, would not be so supportive of my business decision.

And my question was hypothetical. IF I owned and eatery and IF he patronized my establishment I WOULD serve the ex-president and be polite while doing so.
But IF it happened I would be thinking of that old joke.
A man walks into a sea food cafe and asks, "do you serve crabs here?" And the waitress say, "We serve everyone. What'll you have?"

I agree and of course I would serve the former president. It would be stupid to alienate his supporters and I would get a boost in business. I don't believe that insulting your customers and driving away half the population is the smartest way to do business but I wouldn't own a pretentious "sustainable restaurant" either. (Whatever that means.).

As for the claims by the owner, I don't really believe her future is secure but I do believe she had a brief increase. Any publicity is good publicity, that's why she cynically used the Washington Post with the recent editorial. She was hoping for more free advertising and the Post's staff is so consumed by hate for those cretins who voted for President Trump, they provided her with it. She better use it wile she can. Notoriety doesn't last very long and she's not going to be able to bring it up again without looking desperate.

And...as usual you missed the point. Reading is fundamental. Try it.

So if the bakers had said that they found that particular gay couple abhorrent, it would have been ok?

You couldn't even get a job at a McDonald's in the middle of Death valley after the media was done with you...
