Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns from Trump White House
Wall Street Journal
Avuna Viswanatha
November 7, 2018

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has resigned at the request of President Trump. The move follows months of Mr. Trump expressing his displeasure with Mr. Sessions in critical tweets.

The abrupt move ended Mr. Sessionsí tumultuous tenure as the nationís top law-enforcement officer. Throughout, he couldnít shake Mr. Trumpís displeasure over the special-counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Mr. Trump appointed Mr. Sessionsí Chief of Staff Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general.

Mr. Sessionsí departure creates instant uncertainty not only at the Justice Department but also at special counsel Robert Muellerís office. Mr. Sessions had recused himself from that investigation because of his role in the Trump campaign, but a new attorney general could oversee the probe.

Lawmakers of both parties have warned Mr. Trump against naming a new attorney general to weaken Mr. Mueller, but some Republicans more recently have signaled a willingness to consider replacements.

For better or for worse, I guess it was inevitable.

Looks like the president's ready to move beyond Mueller's witch hunt and an ineffective Attorney General, long overdue on both counts...

Good riddance. Sessions has probably already bleach-bit and shredded all the evidence against Hillary? and her collusion with the Russians, a couple of Brits, and an Australian.

According to Q, Sessions was/is a good guy. His recusal and appointment of H & H staved off 2 years of committees, hearings, investigations by Congress and a hopeful special prosecutor like Mueller after at least 2 years of circus. Then we would need a few more years to build a case. Now we have an investigation that's been ongoing for over a year, and with solid control of the Senate (direct oversight of FBI/DOJ), things will be moved their and hopefully finished.

Perhaps we can start weeding out the SJWs within these branches that are supposed to be objective and following the law, not their feels.

We have enough weaponized politicians and agencies within our government, we don't need more.

Ditto that.

I thought that Sessions would have been great, but he ended up protecting the status quo of the deep state by refusing to go after the deep state enabling crooks under the phony guise of it being mere political payback against the dems.

I have said it before as has Mark Levin and El Rushbo, that senators make the worst presidents because they are traditionally spineless cowards in the senate.

Now Trump can put in someone who will get the job done that needs to be done and bring these criminals to justice.

Trey doesn't have the guts/stomach for it.

We need someone fearless, has the heart of a pit bull, is very tenacious, clever, only fires when it is certain and never misses the target when he does.

I wish I could feel happy about this, but honestly I just feel pitty and remorse. When Sessions was announced, I thought it was going to be a huge boon to fight illegal immigration and to be tough on crime. What I thought was going to be a justice hawk turned out to be a justice chicken.

For a Republican appointed AG, Sessions was THE WORST. He was horrible ineffectual, I can't point to one single are that he improved the department. He had his balls cut off with the Russia probe and refused to assert himself from there on out. Good riddance!

Mr. President, do not screw this one up. This is your chance to appoint someone who will take charge of the department. Who will rid the department of rogue elements and restore order. The ball is in your court Mr. President, please do not squander this opportunity.

I hadn't thought of that, but very true. It's time. I don't like marajuana but clearly that issue is gone and there are bigger fish to fry. Regulate the hell out of it, and let's move on. Having said that, this is 95% about Mueller and 5% about marijuana.

I've never seen someone step into office and then immediately cut their balls off infront of the free world like Jeff Sessions did. Good riddance.

Why not simply promote Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein? Perhaps because of this:

"It does not take a lawyer or even a former federal prosecutor like myself to conclude that investigating Donald Trump’s finances or his family’s finances falls completely outside of the realm of his 2016 campaign and allegations that the campaign coordinated with the Russian government or anyone else. That goes beyond the scope of the appointment of the special counsel" --Matthew Whitaker (August 6, 2017)

Comey...McCabe...Sessions - I guess it can't be a Saturday Night Massacre if it happens slowly over a period of months.
