Any other Battlebots fans here?

Yeah I know, LOL, I make a big deal about my preference for old TV shows (& movies & music & everything.) And it's still true. When it comes to comedy variety shows, sitcoms, dramas, westerns, movies, music, etc, I love the old stuff. The older the better. And B&W is best of all. But that doesn't mean I don't watch anything else. I love Big Bang Theory, for example. I love American Ninja Warrior too.

And my latest guilty pleasure: Battlebots. Love that show. Unfortunately, like all "modern" competition shows, they spend way too much time talking in between the actual battles. In an hour-long program there are maybe 5 actual 3-minute battles, with the rest of the time talking (and of course, the inevitable commercials.)

But during the brief periods when the robot battles are taking place, it's very entertaining.

BattleBots is great entertainment. It's like a demo derby with nasty weapons and nobody gets hurt. The different approaches make it interesting.

I still enjoy watching The Walking Dead, even though it completely sucks now.

Stopped watching TV about three years ago. Read and do much more than I ever did. You've got me beat Monty because you never got caught up in Facebook. That may be the next thing to go. I like watching old Bugs Bunny and cartoons on Youtube though.....

We have watched some form of Battlebots for years. After a break, it is back on TV.
I am in awe of Faruq, (the announcer.) Some of the intros he has to say are ridiculous, but he valiantly manages to get through them without rolling his eyes.
(If he writes his own stuff, then forget that last sentence.)

There is something so satisfying in seeing robots rip (spin, lift, throw) each other as parts fly (burn, get sawed or hammered) across the ring.

Edit to add: we just watched the latest episode of Battlebots last night.

The fire spitting drones are pointless. Yeah, tombstone is hard to beat.

Yeah, I have yet to see a drone (fire-spitting or otherwise) make any difference whatsoever in the outcome of a match.

One of my favorite Battlebots moments was when that guy outfitted his hammer with a rake and swatted the drone out of the air.

(Sorry about the ad before the video.)

Yeah, LOL, that was great! (But I'm confused - What ad before the video? Goes straight to the video for me.)

Maybe when I watched it--it made it so you didn't have to?

It used to be, but don't believe it is anymore. A shame, it was really intense!
