Daaaw!

How could anyone not like cats?

The cat was huddled beside A WORK GLOVE?

With only three fingers and a thumb?

Must have been Mickey Mouse's or some other cartoon character's work glove?

Totally understandable under those circumstances.

I like both cats and dogs, but I find that cats are much easier to have as pets requiring less maintenance and they live longer. I had a German Shepherd dog as a kid, but he got distemper from the next door neighbor's dog (also a German Shepherd that bit me in my side ripping me open enough to require repeated medical treatments) and he lived to be 5 years old before he had to be put down after we gave him to an uncle on a family farm. He was a real sweetie and was loved and taken care of right up until the inevitable had to happen once his flesh began to rot.

Currently right now I have a 21 year old Bengal cat and a 16 year old long haired tabby cat with two other adopted feral cats.

Years ago while growing up I had an orange tabby (looked like Morris the cat) that lived to 19 and a half years.

We love both dogs and cats too and I definitely agree that cats are easier to take care of. We fostered both cats and dogs via the SPCA when we lived in San Francisco. We're down to 4 cats now, all rescues and it seems a good balance for us.

Something in my eye... *sniff*....

tomorrow I head up to Idaho to my new home with my 2 kitties in their carriers and tranquilized to make the trip easier on them...

I, however, will be entirely free of anything to calm my nerves about driving 978 miles with the two of them giving me their opinions from the back seat... And then starting my day with another 400 miles with similar input.

But hoping that once we get to our new home they'll relax a little while I self medicate with three fingers of whiskey and then will see what I can do about adopting a puppy...

If my experience is any indication, the cats will not be happy on the road, so I hope the tranquilizers will kick in and give you all some peace and quiet.

I wish you a good trip with no distractions and hope that you and the cats love your new surroundings.

I was wondering about that work glove nonsense, as well.

I don't think it's a given that a kitten will know you're a rescuer and be nice to you.

Wow,Ticked, you're finally saying goodbye to California.

I hope all goes well for you and you like your new home.

Some really nice neighbors I had moved to Boise, ID last July.

Very easily. I'd read this years ago and never forgot it. "A dog wakes you up during a fire to save you, a cat wakes you up so you can save it."

Having come from a family that had lots of dogs AND lots of cats, I agree. Cats love you when they want something (food, let out or let in, etc) and otherwise pretty much ignore you, dogs love you all the time, and just can't ever do enough to please you.

Try to get your cat to fetch your newspaper or slippers, or guard your yard, or chase a stick.

In ancient Egypt, cats were considered gods.

Cats have not forgotten this.

It was weird that they didn't recognize it as a Disney characters glove. Either Mickey, Minnie or Goofy. My bets on Mickey.
