Now Democrats Want To 'Expand The House Of Representatives'

The Daily Wire
By Emily Zanotti
October 16, 2018

Excerpt:

When all else fails, change the system.

Leftist luminaries, who weren't able to stop the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, suggested in the aftermath that Americans should consider reforming the Senate. Reminded that expanding the Senate would require a Constitutional Amendment, they've now, apparently, resorted to "reforming" the other half of the bicameral legislature, the House of Representatives.

NBC News reports that some Democratic activists are suggesting that to even out the "balance of power," the size of the House should grow as much as double its current size.

"Expanding the House of Representatives would be a vast improvement over the status quo — with the potential to impact all branches of government," activist Steve Vladick opines for NBC's "Think" platform.

"[C]hanging the size of the House of Representatives — from its current total of 435 seats to 650 seats, or one for every 500,000 constituents — would make that body far more reflective of the country at large; would dramatically affect presidential elections; and, perhaps alone among all of these proposed reforms, would most be in keeping with the wishes of the Constitution’s drafters," he continues.

Vladick argues that "changing the size of the House of Representatives would make that body far more reflective of the country at large" by narrowing the size of Congressional districts and limiting district size based on population. In most cases, that would involve halving districts.

But it's not clear how having more districts with fewer people makes the House more representative, since House members are duly elected and, in most cases, making the districts smaller wouldn't improve a member's ability to lunch with every last one of his or her constituents.

What it does do, however, is help the Democrats remain in control of one house of Congress at all times by giving larger cities and their immediate metropolitan areas (where there are bigger populations in smaller areas) more seats.

This bunch...smh...

Just a few years ago, they couldn't hand enough power to Barry the Wonder Muslim. Now that its not one of theirs at Pennsylvania Avenue, the system's gotta change.

Truly, what a bunch of petulant children.

This would increase the power of large-population states in the electoral college. The number of electors is the number of U.S. House representatives for the state plus 2 (for 2 senators for each state). That "plus 2" means that small-population state electors represent fewer people than large-population state ones do: my vote for president in Nebraska counts more than the vote of someone from California or New York. This could be a push to change that.

Exactly. The Democrats lost the 2000 and 2016 Presidential elections in the Electoral College. They want to ensure that all future Presidents are elected by California and New York.

Barry the Wonder Muslim. I love it. Can I use it?

Yet another page outta the Dimwits play book, change the rules! regurgitate it, rename it, repackage it, and re sell it to the zombie herd staggering behind us! One is forced to wonder just in what test tube were these people grown? The result they're really driving at is eradicating and replacing the Constitution. I suggest we send them all packing nonstop to Mexico and let them set up shop there. We'll soon see how many of the rats try to scurry back over the wall. It seems to me to be a much more humane alternative than the Leftards advocacy of wholesale murder, rape threats, kicking our cats and cannibalizing our children. Petulant, yet murderous children, indeed. If we push the midterms across the finish line, I suspect the Left's outrage would make the Spanish Inquisition look like a Sunday school picnic. Another sharp stick in the eye combined with dumpy old Hillary's loss, and BK's confirmation and (I predict) their missing the brass ring of taking back both Houses might just be enough for us to remand them all to the custody of the enchanted kingdom of the criminally insane for good.

So the dems want to abolish the electoral college, impeach and convict a sitting President and then Vice President because they hate them, increase the SCOTUS justices to at least 11 and pack it with prog activists, turn the Senate into another House, abandon due process, shift from capitalism to socialism and now add members to the House presumably to pack it with progs.

Gotta admit, they're really ambitious... and

One has to wonder if they'd keep anything as it is?
