FUNNY MONEY: Ocasio-Cortez Accused of Paying Partner with Campaign Cash

Article:

A former employee of the National Republican Senate Committee did some digging into the campaign finances of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, only to find some shady dealings that are raising eyebrows.

Ocasio-Cortez's Chief of Staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, was heavily involved in the socialist congresswoman's campaign. He owns a PAC called Brand New Congress, and an associated Limited Liability Company (LLC) by the same name. This is not particularly unusual, but some of the payments transferred between the company, the PAC, and Ocasio-Cortez's campaign appear to be less than ethical.

"Like other candidates, AOC paid Brand New Congress LLC for strategic consulting, in her case totaling $18,880.14," wrote Luke Thompson on Medium. "Unlike in the other cases, Brand New Congress PAC turned around and paid her boyfriend as a 'marketing consultant.'"

Thompson used publicly available Federal Election Commission documents to source his report.

"Indeed, while Brand New Congress PAC's ten largest expenditures were paid to Brand New Congress LLC for 'strategic consulting,' a sum that totaled $261,165.20 over the course of the campaign, its eleventh and twelfth largest expenditures were paid to Riley Roberts," the report said.

Roberts has been described by Ocasio-Cortez as her "partner."

Well now it don't matter does it, she's a democrat marxist, she's good to go! She can break any law she wants simply because none of them apply to her.

In this particular case, I'm almost ready to chalk it up to stupidity instead of criminal intent. AOC has consistently proven she understands virtually nothing about money, expenditures, costs, balances, etc etc etc. So it's entirely possible she wasn't trying to "scam" anything here, but was simply too stupid to grasp the fact that it wasn't legal.

Monty, From free lunch to welfare fraud they all know how to game the system. But when it comes to picture ID to vote they are helpless.

Yes, I agree about the collective "they". Leftists as a group are system-gamers right down to their DNA. That's why I made sure to specify I'm only talking about this particular case. I just can't dismiss AOC's stupidity in general, and especially her stupidity concerning money, spending, balances, debts, etc. I think it's entirely possible she was just plain too stupid to realize this wasn't legal.

Yeah, gonna disagree here. With her bevy of handlers, they knew. In fact, my bet is that they used this method to circumvent getting her side piece some money.

Remember how she gave that presentation about dark money and bad guys? Well, there she is in the mirror.

Both of you have good arguments..but I kinda want to go with Monty for one reason...It pegs out my "Ironic Weird Shidt-O-Meter" That the only defense that can be offered is that she's just too stupid to pull off this stunt...on the other hand if her handlers are so clueless that they would expose her, Especially in the current political climate, to this kind of clusterschtup...well I guess we have less to fear from her ilk than we think...

No matter what the impetus, this will go nowhere.

Yup, Kestrel.

In fact, lets face it: The majority of Democrats are either openly chagrined by AOC's stupidity or privately chagrined. Therefore any "handlers" she has are no doubt every bit as clueless as she is. I mean c'mon, if she had ANY handlers who were slightly less stupid than she is, they never would've let her screw up the Amazon deal the way she did.

I think it's a matter of Occam's Razor: The simplest answer is that she's really just too stupid to understand why this was illegal and unethical.

I agree on her stupidity. I’m less convinced of her “handlers” stupidity. I’m not discounting it out of hand, but there is a good chance that her “handlers” know what they are doing, know that she’s too stupid to object to what they are telling her to do, and are trying to game her and the system at the same time for their own benefit - either by getting their agenda through and/or by profiting off what she says/does.

Then how do you explain her "handlers" allowing her to make the monumentally catastrophic mistake concerning Amazon/NY? Let's face it, that put egg on the face of everybody who supports AOC.
