Justin Amash Becomes First Republican In Congress To Call For Trump's Impeachment

Washington Examiner
by Colin Wilhelm
May 18, 2019 05:24 PM

Excerpt:

Rep. Justin Amash said that President Trump committed impeachable offenses during the course of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

The Michigan Republican also accused Attorney General William Barr of misleading the public as to Mueller’s findings from his investigation into Russian interference in the 2017 presidential election.

In a series of tweets posted Saturday, Amash, who has a reputation as an iconoclast within the Republican conference in the House of Representatives, said that Trump’s actions reached the threshold for impeachment. The Michigan Republican said he reached his conclusions about Trump and Barr after “carefully and completely” reading the public version of Mueller’s report and consulting with staff.

“Contrary to Barr’s portrayal, Mueller’s report reveals that President Trump engaged in specific actions and a pattern of behavior that meet the threshold for impeachment,” wrote Amash, who said he believes that Trump obstructed justice during the course of the investigation.

“Mueller’s report identifies multiple examples of conduct satisfying all the elements of obstruction of justice, and undoubtedly any person who is not the president of the United States would be indicted based on such evidence,” Amash wrote.

I am beginning to think, to all the anti-Trump on the right and left, that being elected President is an impeachment crime for PRESIDENT TRUMP

Amash is a moron. Typical northern RINO proggy.

He completely disregards the fact that the entire premise for Russia-gate is a lie, completely made up so everything else with it is immaterial.

I hope that he loses in the primary when/if he runs again.

POS.

So what are those "impeachable offenses"? When you charge someone with a crime you must state the specific crime and the elements of the crime that were committed. This guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about but at the same time lists no specifics. You cannot charge someone for obstruction of justice when the underlying investigation was in fact unlawful. That's the old eating the fruit of the poisonous tree.

:exactly:

There is no law against obstructing injustice, which is exactly what Russia-gate was by design.

So this Amash guy (never heard of him, sounds like he’s looking for his 15 minutes on CNN) says that “after careful and complete reading.... there are SEVERAL impeachable offenses ...” and proceeds to list exactly ZERO of them.

Ohhhh, how convincing!

You are correct he is a RINO and his district is catching on to that fact. He won his district in the general election by +22 points in 2016. Once his vote actually counted for something except for show votes on repealing Obumbocare, suddenly he states things have changed and it might takes "YEARS!" to entangle Odumbocare. The election of Trump has outed a lot of "fake" conservatives (surprisingly he's a member of the House Freedom Caucus) and has exposed them as the RINOs they always were. Amash also has been critical of Trump on a number of topics, but until now, they have been pretty tame and none have been extreme where I would have put him in the "never-Trumper" clan. But, there were enough people in his district that wasn't happy with his criticism of Trump that he only won his district in 2018 by just over 10%...which is a huge drop from 2016 (+22). Also, he may be attempting to pander to the independents hoping they will vote for him because foolishly he thinks it shows them he's independent. What an idiot (but typical of a RINO), no one votes for someone because they are "independent". People vote for the policies you stand for and fight for. For Republicans, if you are wishy-washy and inconsistent, they will likely just stay home and not vote rather than vote for a DemocRAT. Even many independents think this way and could easily vote for a DemocRAT instead. He may also be betting that Trump is not going to be popular come next year so he can show he has distanced himself from Trump. I am completely confident in stating Trump WILL be even more popular with his base next year and my guess (hope) is someone will primary him as a result of this charade (and his past statements) against Trump. And, if someone does, the only way he will survive the primary is if more than one person runs against him in the primary. That's how Senator Lindsay Graham made it through the last S.C. primary (he had six challengers and he only won with 33% of the vote...in S.C. all you need is a plurality, not majority to win the primary).

Amash read the same report that is open to the public. He claims "specific actions" that are impeachable yet does not say what those actions were. PRESIDENT Donald J. Trump is guilty of pissing in the Establishment's Wheaties. Outside of Congress, that makes him a national hero.

I might sound fishy but I have to wonder if this guy was not planted by the dems to get that headline. Michigan is not exactly a GOP mecca, pun intended.

Well, he is a lawyer, so that basically lumps him in with a profession that is notorious for having no integrity...so yeah, he certainly could be a DemocRAT masquerading as a Republican. More likely, he's been a RINO all along and fooled everyone. Kind of like that other Michigan congressman, DemocRAT Bart Stupak fooled everyone that he was pro-life until it came down to voting for or against Odumbocare. Laughably, he tried to convince people he had "Odumbo's" word that he would sign an executive order baring Odumbocare to pay for abortions. Besides the fact that an execute order is only as good as the current president, what was his plan when the next president decides not to sign this executive order? Well, when Odumbo never issued the "promised" executive order, Stupak claimed he was lied to. Either he was the dumbest lawmaker in the history of the world (highly doubtful) or he simply was lying all along, just like Amash. That's why someone needs to primary Amash and kick him out just like they did the liar Stupak.
