Fixing runtime errors

A handful of members have reported that since our software upgrade, they now get a runtime error, which pops up in a window and says something like this:

Quote

A runtime error has occurred
Do you wish to Debug?
Line xxx (keeps changing)
Error: 'SynRealWinOpen' is undefined

There is nothing wrong with the forums software, but is instead there is a problem on your computer. Fortunately, it is easy to take care of in most cases.

Here are the things to do if you use Internet Explorer. Other browsers should have similar functions:

1) In IE, go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced. Under Browsing CHECK the "disable script debugging," and UNCHECK "Display notification of every script error."

If that did not work, do this:

2) The problem may be related to the contents of your browswer's cache. It may be using some old files from its cache instead of retrieving newer versions from the site. Try deleting all of Internet Explorers temporary files (Tools > Internet Options ... > Delete Files ) and then refresh the page view.

These should have fixed the problem. If not...

3) The only other thing I have found in searching the internet on this are numerous references to Norton Internet Security and Norton Anti-Virus causing this. If all else fails, try disabling them and see if the error goes away.

There is a topic on this problem in the forum found here.

EDIT:

If you are receiving errors, please post in the following thead:
