If I were King for a day...


The government has grown far too large, powerful and intrusive. It should never have been expanded to what it has become. The Founding Fathers are surely rolling in their graves. Note that I say "King" for a day, not President. I honestly believe that every one of these actions would be better for the people, the economy, the country and the world. I am sure there are a few other things I would like to see done. And note that all of these changes are FEDERAL changes only. My policies would in no way affect States' rights to do as they please. But this is only for the one day. Afterward, I would step down, say "You're Welcome." and go back to my farm in the great state of Texas.


Welfare:
I would immediately eliminate all welfare (individual, corporate, agricultural and international).

Taxes:
I would institute the Fair Tax (the U.N. can stay after that since they will now be contributing to the federal revenue), lower the capital gains tax to 10% and lower the corporate tax rate to 10%. I would create a Balanced Budget amendment in the Constitution.

Social Security:
I would privatize social security and invest the currently held assets in the new program.

Energy:
I would immediately being drilling on the continental shelf as well as ANWAR. Restrictions for new refineries would be removed as well as those on nuclear power plants. All subsidies to 'green' energy would be eliminated. Shale oil in the west would be retrieved and processed.

Abortion:
Roe v. Wade would be overturned, with exceptions for rape or if the pregnancy would kill the mother. Abortion should NOT be a form of birth control.

Insubordination:
Cabinet members, staff and all federal employees would be subject to immediate termination, civil fines and possible criminal prosecution for insubordination to the sitting president (e.g. leaking military secrets, accessing unauthorized data, etc.). The words 'treason' and 'sedition' would become household words.

Health care:
I would completely remove the government from health care as well as privatize Medicare and Medicaid.

Bailouts:
I would rescind every penny of the bailouts (and remove the restrictions that accompanied them). The government has no business in private business. Businesses should be allowed to succeed or fail on their own merits. Businesses that cannot make it should be allowed to fail and make way for better models and processes.

Business:
I would remove any federal restrictions to business. Small businesses drive this country and this economy. Mom and pop should be able to create and build a business without government intrusion. I think there should be no minimum wage and that the market should set it.

Immigration:
I would build a wall along the southern border, then arrest and deport every illegal alien. I may streamline the immigration process. I would also remove the 'anchor baby' option. Business employing illegal immigrants would be fined punitively and may be subject to criminal charges.

Second amendment:
I would remove any and all federal restrictions on lawful citizens legally owning guns. There would be no concealed licensing. Open carry would be encouraged.

Congress:
I would set up Congressional term limits, remove every act Congress has made that violates the Constitution then fire every single one of them followed by new elections and repeal the 17th amendment.

Education:
The federal government has no business in the education system.

Iraq:
I think the Iraq surge wasn't enough - it should have been doubled. I think we should have finished Iraq the first time around. I would immediately increase military efforts, take off the gloves and eliminate the insurgent threat. Iraq could easily be divided up into three separate nations based upon ethnicity - Kurds in the north, Sunnis in the south and Shiites in the east and central. Our nearby Navy (all of it) and the Air Force would ensure Iran (as well as Turkey) does not interfere. If the new Shiite nation wanted to become part of Iran, that's their choice. Kurds in Turkey would leave for the new Kurd nation and Turkey would be ecstatic.

Torture:
I'm all for it, especially in situations that require immediate action.

Iran:
I would line the Navy (all of it) up in the Strait of Hormuz, face east and say "I dare you". I would also allow Israel to do whatever they felt necessary.

War on Terror:
The Taliban would be bombed into oblivion. In Afghanistan and Pakistan. If Pakistan refused to help, it would be done anyway. Our Navy (all of it) would be right there near Iran anyway to enforce our viewpoint. Once the Taliban and Osama bin Laden were removed from the planet, all U.S. forces would be removed from both countries.

States rights:
I think the federal government should get their noses out of States' issues. I think that Texas et. al. should be allowed to secede if it so desires...

Criminals:
I think criminals should no longer be coddled. Prison is a punishment. Criminals would no longer have access to television, gyms or libraries. They (not including the really nasty ones) would all be forced to pick up trash, rake leaves and break big rocks into little rocks.

Global warming:
I think human-caused global warming is a hoax. Al Gore should be punished for lying and trying to fleece the world population by being forced to watch endless re-runs of Charles In Charge, Facts of Life and Caroline in the City.

United Nations:
They would all be forced to pay their parking tickets or face punitive fines. They would no longer be allowed to commit crimes and hide behind diplomatic immunity. I would reduce our dues to a level even with other nations. The United States would no longer be funding the majority of their actions.

Military:
The military budget would be increased and based upon a percentage of the GDP. Salaries would be increased. Benefits would be increased.
