Arrested development? Self-centeredness? Laziness? I don't know? It really made my head spin when I read it. I just loved the last line about her son who just joined -- "I believe my former soldier, but I'm afraid of what it's going to feel like to love my new one." There's nothing finer than a serving person willing to put themselves on the line for others.WHAT? Afraid of what it's going to feel like to love her son? WTF? When my sons joined the Army I loved them just like I always had -- and then some. It made me love them more. It's scary when you think of losing them, but they are living the lives they feel convicted to lead. They are good, honorable, decent young men. What's not to love? I would be more worried that they might wind up some loser Marxist married to a self-centered, soldier leaving wench. You just don't realize that until you're there, then you come back and have to put up with jabbering bitches such as this, who haven't a clue. |

I cannot believe how shallow this woman is. I worked with a woman whose husband was killed by an IED 30 days before he was set to return to the United States. Would she have preferred that her husband was killed in combat just so it was easier to walk away? I'm sure she would have enjoyed the benefits with her new commie husband. Over half of the woman that I work with have husbands in the military, and most of them are deployed right now. I'd love to have my co-workers get ahold of the writer......b*tch

He has had to have his jaw completely reconstructed, his arm was nearly amputated but they saved it -- it has minimal function. He has severe TBI and PTSD, and you know what? My friend would have never once considered leaving her husband. She loves him more now than ever. It's her moral base. She made a promise to him, and she has fulfilled it. She also believes if the cards had been turned and she had been injured like that in a car accident that he would have done the same for her. It's called fidelity and it's not just related to sex -- it's fidelity and integrity to vows you make to another person. It's maddening and insane what this women did. |

I was hesitating to go to the original link to see comments, because it's Salon and I expected some "atta girl"s. Instead ... It may just be you guys signing up to leave letters, but it does my heart good. Was going to say that it sounded like he got the better end of the deal but the letters section has been locked. |

Your friend is a wonderful woman. What was even more painful for my co-worker was that for the majority of her husband's deployment, she was pregnant. Her husband was able to see his son being born. The writer should have taken some lessons from your friend. God Bless your good friend. |

I've got nothing to say that wouldn't get me in big trouble with the mods and the censors... but I'm so glad that her ex can go find himself a LADY worthy of him now... because she sure wasn't.

Courtney Cook is a pig. She liked the "romance" of being married to aa Serviceman, but is proud of the fact that she hurt him and his kids.
What a pig. |

If her son is old enough to join the military, it is obvious that HE has raised them well and SHE will not be getting many mother's day cards... I hope... |

(IMG:http://www.rightnation.us/forums/style_emoticons/default/naanaa.gif) You know I had to. And yes, I am just kidding. I have nothing but respect for all branches of the Armed Forces. Don't worry, the libtard friends of this idiotic chick will consider her brave and strong for putting up with as much as she did. The problem with this 30 year old girl is that she's never bothered to grow up. Safety in civilian life is an illusion that is just waiting for an opportunity to be revealed. Just wait for her to step outside of the boundaries of her safe life and she will never be able to cope with the real dangers out there.
