London riots: Men guilty of robbing Malaysian student

BBC News

'Two men have been found guilty of robbing a Malaysian student as they pretended to help him during last summer's riots in London.

Ashraf Rossli, 20, had been in the UK for just a month when he was attacked on 8 August in Barking.

As he lay injured, John Kafunda, 22, of Ilford, and Reece Donovan, 24, of Romford, stole items from his bag. Both were found guilty of robbery and violent disorder at Wood Green Crown Court.

Donovan was also found guilty of theft and burglary. The judge told the men they should expect lengthy custodial sentences when they are sentenced on 13 March.
Footage of the incident, which was recorded on a mobile phone and posted on YouTube, caused widespread anger.

Kafunda and Donovan will be sentenced on 13 March A portable Sony PlayStation games console and 10 games were taken, valued at £500, Mr Rossli told the court.'

The London rioters have been getting harsher sentences than normal.
So fingers crossed.

Did you watch the video?.
The callousness shocked everyone around the world.

And as it happened during the riots, it and the riots crystallised the problems of modern Britain for many people around the globe.

They will be sentenced on March 13, and Judge James Patrick told them: "You will be receiving lengthy custodial sentences."

In your country, people who work hard pay for people who don’t want to... We don’t understand, say parents of Malaysian 'bad Samaritan' riot victim

Well, I consider robbers to be rather 'callous' in EVERY case, not just this one. This seems like one of those crimes elevated because of the persons race/religion so that he is now 'more equal' than others. Robbery is robbery, I don't expect the criminal to be kind and caring when he is perpetrating a CRIME. At least they didn't beat him down again.

I may be wrong, but I believe the "Extra" callousness is in the man already having his jaw broken in two places, then having someone come to him in the guise of "Helping" only to turn out to be robbing him.

That is pretty cold.

No matter what your race, religion, or t-shirt size.
