EXCERPT

'Kony 2012' Honcho Jason Russell Detained for Allegedly Masturbating in Public

The mastermind behind the now-famous "Kony 2012" video was detained by police in San Diego yesterday for allegedly being drunk in public and masturbating.

Jason Russell was taken into custody by San Diego cops. In addition to allegedly masturbating, cops say he vandalized cars.

Cops told NBC7 in SD they received several calls around 11:30 AM ... reporting a man in "various stages of undress."

Sources tell us ... Russell was dancing around the Intersection of Ingraham and Riviera wearing "speedo-like underwear" ... and eventually removed the underwear and began to make sexual gestures.

We're told ... it appeared Russell was under the influence of some kind of substance.

Cops told NBC, "Officers detained [Russell] and transferred him to a local medical facility for further evaluation and treatment."

Russell is the father of two, and says he wants to have 9 more kids.

<snip>

1:45 PM PST: The CEO of Invisible Children, Ben Keesey, tells TMZ ..."Jason Russell was unfortunately hospitalized yesterday suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, and malnutrition."

The statement continues, "He is now receiving medical care and is focused on getting better. The past two weeks have taken a severe emotional toll on all of us, Jason especially, and that toll manifested itself in an unfortunate incident yesterday."

"Jason’s passion and his work have done so much to help so many, and we are devastated to see him dealing with this personal health issue. We will always love and support Jason, and we ask that you give his entire family privacy during this difficult time.”

<snip>

2:15 PM PST: Law enforcement sources tell us ... there are NO plans to charge Russell with a crime for yesterday's incident.

The whole story

Now THIS sucks.....

I was listening to an eyewitness to this event today on the local radio show coming home from work. I live in San Diego. From what the witnesses say, he was definitely using something. People stopped their cars and watched him, and I quote "Beat the pavement with the palms of his hands while still remaining standing!" He was dancing around in his underwear screaming at people and vandalizing cars all at the same time. I don't know what kind of drugs he was on, but he was on something. I think he was getting rich off a charity.

Also, I have heard about this whole Invisible Children thing. From what I understand, this is one of those charities that tugs at your heartstrings for the poor children, but the percentage of money that gets paid to help the children is less than 30% of what they take in. That low of a percentage is usually an indication of a fraudulent organization. The most reputable charities spend over 80% on the cause and less than 20 on administration. IMHO this guy was a total fraud. I have been to Africa and the Middle East several times and any money that goes to a third world African nation for any charity reason is going right into the pocket of the dictator and thats just a fact. Some tiny amount might dribble downhill for publicity, but thats about it. If you send your money over there, you are a fool. I've had several of my friends send me links to Invisible Children and KONY and I won't even bother to watch it. I've been there, I know better. If you want to send money to an organization that might actually help, try the Red Cross or United Way. Even they have their scandals but they are not as corrupt as African govts.

I don't understand the concern? This is perfectly normal behaviour.

I'm sure there's a perfectly logical liberal explanation for this.

I guess this isn't too different than his facebook campaign. Makes him feel good, but accomplishes nothing. :wacko:

If he's so gung-ho about stopping Kony he ought to enlist and volunteer to be the first paratrooper out of the plane.
