NBC News Accused of Editing 911 Call in Trayvon Martin Controversy
Hollywoodreporter.com
March 30, 2012
Excerpt:
NBC News is being excoriated in some circles – with competitor Fox News Channel leading the charge – for selectively editing audio of the 911 call placed by George Zimmerman just before he killed Trayvon Martin.

The NBC segment in question featured anchor Ron Allen and ran on the Today show on Tuesday. On Thursday, Sean Hannity and guest Brent Bozell played the NBC version of the 911 call and compared it with the unedited version.

In the NBC segment, Zimmerman says: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.”
The full version, though, unfolds like this:
Zimmerman: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.”

911 operator: “Okay. And this guy, is he white black or Hispanic?”
Zimmerman: “He looks black.”

They are trying to ignite another Rodney KIng riots. They would love to see things burn down and people killed it would be a ratings orgey!

If anyone watches NBC they are obviously liberal and democrats atleast MSNBC that is. Personally I rarely watch any cable news because it isn't news it'sd just opinions disguised as news.

:yeahthat:

This sounds suspiciously like the little incident in 2009 when MSLSD decried the white gun toter at the Arizona Tea Party. Oops, the man turned out to be black and MSLSD had edited the video. What a surprise that NBC is up to it's old tricks. MSNBC: Gun-Toting Protesters are 'White' Racists... Black Guy with AR-15

Gee, next thing you know, NBC will call Florida before the polls close in the Central Time Zone part of the state (which are heavily military).

Oh, wait...

Sounds more like the edited Rodney King footage.

This whole thing is going to be nothing more than a big shakedown. The dead kid is basically a gift certificate for anyone who is good enough at pretending they care. Weren't his parents looking to trademark a slogan, "Justice for Tayvone", or whatever ? They want to get paid. Sadly, he's worth more dead to them than alive. Says a lot about how he was raised. When alive he was their burden, now that he is dead he is their ATM.

It would be refreshing to hear a Texan college kid or a Russian immigrant or a loudmouth Aussie or any such_type of scooting_looting people for once show a backbone and condemn NBC for doing this. It WOULD be, but I already know it WON'T be.

911 operator: “Okay. And this guy, is he white black or Hispanic?”

Zimmerman: “He looks black.”

Now, let's review both versions and then think about the content and the reason behind the truncated NBC version.

What could possibly have motivated NBC to edit the tape to include only a single line of conversation like that, spliced together and absent any context or other parties in the conversation?

Now it seems to me like a clear cut case of media manipulation and a clear cut case of purposely lying to the public.

If you are supposed to be reporting the facts, you don't truncate key pieces of 911 calls unless, of course, your main agenda is whipping an already ugly crowd into a mass of hysterical violence.

If you are reporting the facts you play the full recording and bump the fluff piece about a mother duck and her record number of ducklings until another time.

If you are trying to push a racial divide that might spark serious and widespread violence then you release an edited version of the 911 call to heighten racial tensions and ratchet up the racist rhetoric.

There is enough evil in the world, the last thing that we need right now is this kind of widespread preaching of tainted information.

Zimmerman didn't even say "oh yeah he's black" but much more meekly "he looks black".

NBC changed 1) who prompted the statement of race, 2) the tone of how it was said, and 3) the reason for bringing race into this in the first place. This if 911 SOP, to get a description. There was nothing, repeat nothing racial about this. NBC made it racial and should be absolutely skewered for this.

The more I think about this the madder I get. This is unconscionable. The fake Bush military records were bad, but no one was gonna die or get hurt from that fabrication.

This is different. People are going to hear this and get all spun up and could very well go out and hurt someone.

NBC should have their license pulled for this.

Inciting terroristic acts is a felony, and this is exactly what NBC did.

If I had a non-black son or daughter that became victimized by hatred stirred up from this blatent deception and racist-rabble-rousing on the part of that network, I think I'd not rest until I had hunted down the person(s) responsible for that editing & airing of that tape, and expressed my anger in the most extreme manner... :redhot: :redhot: :redhot: (I might even seek out the fake 'reverend', too)

NBC says they are investigating. This means a low level staffer will get the boot. NBC will be praised by itself and other media for upholding standards.

There's nothing for them to "investigate". The anchor is supposedly such a hardworking journalist that they are on top of every story that is run that night (remember all the vid clips of Brokaw in on every minute detail?). I agree that some flunky will take one for the team, but it's from the top where they need to cut. Arrogant, self important jackwagons.
