I know you havent. Your username kind of gives that away. That passage you quoted is from my reply to Wyn.
I jumped in for no other reason than you know that I cannot resist a history debate. Its my passion and what I trained as.

You and I got on well until recently, then you starting bashing me for being anti-american.
Maybe I got/get the deflected brunt for James Kirk or our Aussie simpleton, I dont know.

If I have been rude I apologize. Being a full om history buff I value your input and your camdor. As much as I love my country I am not blind to its many faults. If the discusion had been on the Revolutionary war in general you would be right to bring it up. What France has to do with George Washington the leader is a mystery to me. Franklin was the person involved with getting French support, not Washington.

Actually you may have caught my pique at Jeremy Clarkson, again, sorry

Nor I. Because I dont trash America. I really dont, and I would like to see people quote me examples of how I trash America. I really would. Because I am sick of being told I am anti-american, yet no one will give me examples of how I do it.

People need to step up or STFU.

Again, tell me EXACTLY what I say that is anti-american and trashing your country.

Simply saying I am isnt good enough.

Nice try, I'm not going to call you Anti American, and I didn't, because you went whining to the mods the last time I did.

I called you a rude foreigner, which you are. A lot of threads you participate in end with you saying, "who me?" just like now, why do you think that happens?

Except for the ones you jump into by saying "me too!!"

No problem. If I have given the impression that I was having a dig at America or American history, I apologise. All I ever do is argue history. If some people here wish to interpret that as bashing America, then that is their interpretation. Its completely the wrong one, but I cant tell people what to think.

BTW, James Kirk imo is like me: friendly but occasionally critical (whilst still being cordial I hope). DJM is more abrasive than us, but actually likes America overall I think, albeit with reservations. The only foreign poster who imo revels in antagonising people here is our Aussie 'friend'.

I wont apologise for complaining about being accused of something I am not. I am genuinely as appalled to be accused of being antiamerican as I would be if I was accused of being racist, homophobic or anti-semitic. I am not, and I dont see why I should accept it. If getting the admin to warn people is what sadly it takes, then I will do it. Not willingly, but so be it. BTW, I have barely done it in my nearly nine years here, I am a big boy and 99.99% of the time can handle myself, but certain accusations are just over the score.

Again, accusations without proof.

Rubbish. Most threads on RN are cordial, as are 99% of mine.

As to this thread, have you actually read it?. I was/am being accused of bashing America for the crime of agreeing with another poster that France played an important and crucial role 1776-1783.

Thats it.
Thats the extent of my 'anti-americanism'.
Agreeing with a correct historical point made by another poster.

actually the French didnt really get involved until France recognized the fledgling country in 1778 once the colonies had won a few battles. In 1880 (4 years after the declaration) they supplied 5 batallons of infrantry and artillery. This army merged with the Continental army and pinned Cornwalliis in Yorktown. Then the Frnch navy (which was late because they had been dueling with England over the carribean islands) blockaded Cornwallis from the relief ships and he ultimaely surrendered, Could he US won with out the troops? maybe. The real capstone was the French navy since the colonies didnt have a full on navy at this point to duel with the Brit navy. Basically were the Frenc an asset? yes but to make it sound like without it the colonies would have lost is unsupported

Ah Hell Scotsman, I know you aren't anti-American.

You are just a dick.

(Kidding!!!)

Seriously, I enjoy our exchanges (Even somewhat heated at times), but I have never felt you hated America.

James on the other hand...

:lol3:

I didn't ask for an apology, and I didn't call you Anti American, you're the one who brought it up. I called you a rude foreigner. Deal with it.

Gleefully agreeing with another rude foreigner isn't helping you one bit.

And again, Anti-American is your term not mine. Stop trying to put words in my mouth.

That too is rude.

Nah, I dont agree. You lot annoy him sometimes, but I have never thought he dislikes America, quite the opposite, that he dosent have starry eyed notions of you (being Canadian), but does like America and Americans.

You can say the same for me.

You know, the love-hate relationship between Canada and the US. Or any two neighbours who share a border: Scotland and England, NI and Eire, Holland and Germany, France and Germany.....

You DO tend to stereotype them as slightly backward, hockey playing, Molson drinking, maple syrup eatin' hicks.

LOL.

I dunno, if all that were true, I think we'd like him. :D

I'm sure he has no stereotypes for us... :P
