Is The Mueller Special Investigation Going To Result In A Massive Political Explosion...Over Nearly Nothing?

The Daily Wire
By Ben Shapiro
December 1, 2017

Excerpt:

While the mainstream media projects that former National Security Advisor Mike Flynnís guilty plea in lying to the FBI presages the possibility that the case of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government will break wide open, thereís another possibility: that special counsel Robert Mueller is about to unleash a wave of minor charges with no underlying crimes.

Hereís how.

Flynnís plea deal suggests that his crime was lying to the FBI about conversations with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak ó after the election. Supposedly, Flynn spoke with Kislyak about backing off of retaliation against Obama administration sanctions, and also about delaying a late-Obama administration United Nations resolution designed to condemn Israeli settlements. Itís completely unclear why Flynn would lie about such conversations; they werenít illegal. In fact, most Americans would want the transition team to talk to foreign governments about the policy to be implemented in mere weeks.

But Flynn apparently lied, and now admits to it.

That means that Flynn will be testifying against other members of the administration who supposedly told him to speak with Kislyak. Speculation suggests that the top official was Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner. But so what? Kushner committed no crime in telling Flynn to reach out to the Russians in order to quash bad Obama policy, particularly on Israel.

Unless Kushner fibbed to the FBI too, for some unspecified reason.

One reason could be simple inexperience. Itís possible that Flynn and that unspecified upper-echelon official simply didnít know it wasnít a problem to speak with Kislyak. Itís possible that they did it without the permission of Trump. Incompetence is always a more obvious answer than malice when it comes to the administration.

But if that upper-echelon official lied to the FBI, Mueller could charge him along the same lines as the charges against Flynn, hoping to ensnare further officials in a chain of lies about contacts with the Russian government that (a) werenít illegal and (b ) were post-election.

This sets off the distinct possibility of a bevy of legal charges based on untruth, but with no underlying crime. This wouldnít be about collusion or election-rigging, but about ensnaring Trump administration officials in their own words. It would look less like Watergate, and much more like the political prosecution of Scooter Libby, the assistant to Vice President Dick Cheney, who was prosecuted by special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald for supposedly lying about a phone call with Tim Russert ó even though the underlying investigation centered on Richard Armitage leaking CIA agent Valerie Plameís name to the media. President Bush ended up commuting Libbyís sentence.

This whole thing is a nothingburger... a "Wish Sandwich", as the Blues Brothers would have said.

So, Flynn pled guilty... Guilty of doing the very thing that he got fired for and that the whole world knew about 11 months ago.

Woo fricken' Hoo.

Exactly. Was it dumb for him to lie? Yup. Did he have any reason to lie? Nope.

If they really believe this is somehow going to "harm" Trump in any way, or lead to "impeachment" (the obvious real goal), they're seriously deluding themselves.

I haven't read anything in any of the reports about this that implicate Trump in anything. Sounds like something if you word the headline just right though.

One note-the Uranium 1 and Fusion GPS affairs are starting to boil over. The libtard media desperately needed a Trump story to crow about so the short attention span sheeple don't think about REAL crimes that have been committed. This story sounds to have been set up for a time when it was needed. :2cents:

You don't understand the ramifications. Flynn's admission is clear evidence of SQUIRREL!

And I thought Ron Perlman was "neutral". Social media has not only exposed a-holes for who they are. It gives us "commoners" and "plebians" access to tell them: "GFY".

What surprised me was Mark Hamill coming out as an angry libtard?

I never heard him say anything political before until now?

And you're right that these celebritards have revealed their true colors all of the sudden?

Most people resent these idiots and they will all go broke soon. Their "entertainment" empire will crash and burn because people are finally tired of these rich high and mighty types lecturing to us and telling us how to think and live as if they're superior to us peons/serfs whom they make their living off of.

It shouldn't surprise us though. Hollywood is almost exclusively extreme left. Hamill has always been a bitter petty man the way he moans about being polarized by playing Skywalker and not being able to get cast for other stuff.

But he was in several other movies after the fact and has done over a hundred voice overs in cartoons?

Maybe because he wasn't desired by Hollyweird for much of anything else?
Sure he could have been typecast?

Just look at the movie "Animal House". Most of the actors in it got many other movie and TV jobs whereas the one who played "Neidermeyer" (Mark Metcalf) was not hired because he didn't demonstrate any ability to play other character types that Hollyweird was looking for.
