A Texas college's student newspaper is apologizing after coming under fire for running an opinion column called "Your DNA is an abomination" that accuses white people of being oppressors who “shouldn’t exist.” The apology from Texas State’s University Star came just hours after the column was printed in the paper's Tuesday edition, sparking a backlash.

“Whiteness will be over because we want it to be,” the article reads, according to a photograph sent to Fox News by multiple viewers. “And when it dies, there will be millions of cultural zombies aimlessly wandering across a vastly changed landscape.” In addition to stating “white death will mean liberation for all,” the columnist also says whiteness is “a construct used to perpetuate a system of racist power” and white people are “an aberration."

“Until then, remember this: I hate you because you shouldn’t exist,” the column adds. “You are both the dominant apparatus on the planet and the void in which all other cultures, upon meeting you, die.”

The column was written by Texas State University senior Rudy Martinez, a philosophy major who said in a past article he was one of the more than 200 people who was arrested on Jan. 20 protesting “the inauguration of proto-fascist Donald Trump.”

The University Star’s Editor-in-Chief, Denise Cervantes, said in a statement issued late Tuesday the column received “widespread criticism from readers.”

“The University Star’s opinion pages are a forum for students to express and debate ideas,” she said. “While our publication does not endorse every opinion put forth by student columnists or guest contributors, as the editor I take responsibility for what is printed on our pages.”

Cervantes said the original intent of the column was to provide a commentary on the idea of race and racial identities. “We acknowledge that the column could have been clearer in its message and that it has caused hurt within our campus community,” she said. “We apologize and hope that we can move forward to a place of productive dialogue on ways to bring our community together.”

Andrew Homann, a former Texas State student body president and chief of staff at the Texas Federation of College Republicans, was among the leading critics of the column. “Just when you think the opinion's columns in the University Star couldn't get any worse, they publish this masterpiece and exceed my expectations,” he wrote on a Facebook post Tuesday. “No one is going to take this paper seriously if the editorial board continues to allow baseless garbage to be published week in and week out."

Twitter users also ripped the newspaper and its response.

What do our resident leftists think about this statement?

Were the insults just another small price to pay for doing the right thing?

"We just published an article that advocates genocide. Now let's have a 'productive dialogue' where you sit and are not allowed to say a word while we continue to blame your skin color for all the evils in the world". FO,B.

Isn't that a confession that without their hatred of white people, they are the equivalent of mindless zombies?

How could its "message" possibly be any clearer?

White = Bad. Everything else = Good. Kill all the white people.

I'd say that message is pretty damn clear.

I hope they never find out about the monthly checks we white people get for being white. That will set them over the edge.

Plus the no fee black American Express card. And the Bentley’s and mansions.

They have started the discussion that was championed by Hitler with his pure race thing. Back then they didn't know much about DNA but tried to do what they could by eliminating those that didn't appear to be part of the "Master Race".

If one is to get on board with their supposition then lets follow this through to the end point which would be the "violent gene" in black people. Black folks commit over 85% of all firearm murders in the US. Yet they only represent 13% of the total population. Studies show that the CDH13 and MAOA genes are associated with a tendency towards violence 13 times greater than those without this so called violence gene. Black people have the violence gene is much higher percentages that white folks. This is scientific evidence that blacks are more violent and should be considered dangerous in much higher numbers that whites.

This gene sits on the X chromosome so men having 2 X chromosomes are more likely to be affected by the warrior gene than women.

Here is the scientific evidence.

http://www.bbc.com/n...onment-29760212
https://www.tremr.co...esearchers-find

In this argument there is scientific proof compared to the Texas University Star which is just opinion. I can guarantee that if the Star has printed the scientific facts of increased violence in blacks there would have been riots from the violent blacks. But the white folks just write letters and voice their displeasure or in some cases get death threats.

There are lots of good documentary videos on YouTube. Search for warrior gene or violence gene.

The only problem with your argument is men have only one X chromosome, XY vs. women's XX. Now it's possible that by having an XY men's violent chromosomes are not matched by a gene on the other one that moderates it, in general XY is more violent than XX. XY leaves more genes on the one X chromosome that get expressed without modification or moderation.

Disclaimers can cover so much, then content speaks for the publication, and it was clear that the editor in chief is a hate monger and a bigot who encourages hate speech and further racial conflict.

Cervantes said the original intent of the column was to provide a commentary on the idea of race and racial identities.

As editor in chief she should have known after reading the piece for what it was. The fact that she seeks to clarify the original intent of the piece tells me that she had a conversation with the author prior to printing and that she was entirely OK with the tone and content, which makes her mea culpa weaker than it was at first glance.

“We acknowledge that the column could have been clearer in its message and that it has caused hurt within our campus community,” she said. “We apologize and hope that we can move forward to a place of productive dialogue on ways to bring our community together.”

Which community did she cause pain? Exposing the true racists on campus? I don't think she knows what she's talking about, just stringing along the acceptable apology that everyone else uses when they push their hatred into the full light of day and have to backtrack it when they don't get the screaming accolades and ticker tape parades they were expecting.

As for her last line there, that sounds like every shidty excuse ever uttered when trying to excuse fake rape, fake anti-Muslim, fake take your pick story that gets smeared across the front page so that people get whipped up and then the truth comes out that they made up the whole story to get publicity and become a sensation, only to have their lies and fraud diluted down to having been done in an effort to 'move forward to a place of productive dialogue' and avoid prosecution for committing their crimes.

All of it is pure BS.

Had a white student written an OP/ED piece with a statement saying 'Black is Over' or 'Brown is Over', it would never have made it past the EiC's desk. Further, they likely would have been turned in for hate speech and seeking to foment violence against other students.

The fact that the author has faced no comeuppance for this says a lot about the thickness of the swamp on campus.

If there is a faculty advisor, someone should be fired.

I am saddened that someone who uses Facebook also has a column penned like this.... :whistling:

Point being:
There are folks who claimed to be intelligent who use Facebook who would agree about this said columnist. (Black Conservatives or Republicans would be considered coons in their minds.)

The real danger is that racism is going mainstream again

President reads the tweets from white supremacists and other nasty haters, and then forwards them on. It's been 'mainstreamed' for quite some time.
