Obama-Backed Democrat In Tight House Race Can't Escape Ethics Complaint

Washington Examiner
by Philip Wegmann

Excerpt:

Aftab Pureval is an excellent candidate. He is young, energetic, and has even attracted the endorsement of former President Barack Obama. But the Ohio Democrat is also under investigation by the Ohio Election Commission.

Pureval couldn’t keep his hands out of his campaign account, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. While serving as Hamilton County Clerk of Courts, he used campaign cash for that county office to jumpstart his federal congressional race. And that might be illegal.

The Enquirer reports:

"Pureval spent $30,000 in the first six months of this year out of the clerk campaign account – even though a potential run for re-election wouldn't come for another two years when Pureval's term is up, according to a campaign finance reports filed Tuesday at the Hamilton County Board of Elections. Pureval was elected clerk in 2016."

And it gets worse. Pureval told the paper that he spent the money on expenses relating to the clerk’s office. But publicly available campaign finance reports contradict that claim.

This has been a gift to beleaguered Republicans because Pureval has pulled uncomfortably close to Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Ohio. Polls show the young Democrat trailing the veteran Republican only narrowly, and the Cook Political Report rates the race as a “toss-up.”

Now a super PAC aligned with Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is knocking Pureval over the ethical lapse. The Congressional Leadership Fund just dropped this ad in Ohio:

It 'might be' illegal?

Somehow I think that they know it's illegal before they start an investigation, otherwise they'd not be wasting time and money when it could be funneled into someone else's slush fund.

He declared another thief his son. I don't believe he can spell 'Ethics' let alone understand the meaning of the word.

For Leftists, "ethics" is defined as "the ends justify the means".

All I need to know is the "Obama-Backed" part to know he must be a slimeball.
