Astronaut Scott Kelly apologizes for praising Winston Churchill

Article:

Scott Kelly is a NASA astronaut. That says a lot about him right there. To be selected as an astronaut, you must be the best of the best - smart, fearless, and psychologically sound.

So why does Kelly sound like an idiot here?

Washington Examiner:

Scott Kelly, a retired American astronaut with multiple space flights under his belt, apologized Sunday after quoting Winston Churchill and calling the 20th century British prime minister "one of the greatest leaders of modern times."

"Did not mean to offend by quoting Churchill. My apologies. I will go and educate myself further on his atrocities, racist views which I do not support. My point was we need to come together as one nation. We are all Americans. That should transcend partisan politics," Kelly wrote on Twitter in the evening.

Right the first time, Scotty. In 1940, Churchill took a battered, beaten nation after the British army was kicked out of France and rallied his people to resist the Nazi onslaught. Certainly, Hitler helped a lot by making several key blunders. But as a demonstration of peerless leadership, there are few modern examples to match it.

So calling Churchill "one of the greatest leaders of modern times" is a no brainer. It is a statement supported by history and the facts.

A few things that will never happen.

There will never be a U.S.S. Scott Kelly.
He will never be known as Sir Scott Kelly.
His name will never be common for any Dog Breed associated with this country(Winston or Winny' is still a popular name for English Bulldogs).
AND SURE AS SH$T HE WILL NEVER RALLY AN ENTIRE NATION IN THEIR DARKEST HOURS.

There is a reason people around the world know the name Winston Churchill, just as there is a reason people around the world DO NOT KNOW the name Scott Kelly.

He went to space a couple times, yes, that's an incredible accomplishment. BUT, there is no comparison in his accomplishments to that of Winston Churchill's. ONE OF HISTORIES GREATEST LEADERS!!

How can someone be brave enough to become an astronaut, but such a spineless pussy to PC in social life?

Oh, wait. John Glenn.

Honest to God, I thought, even today, that this was a little too over the top to be real. When I read that fourth paragraph, I was fully expecting the bottom to show a link to Babylon Bee.

Scott Kelly is the twin brother of Mark Kelly, SJW husband of Gabby Giffords. I think Scott became “woke” in space. He certainly seems to have an affinity for his brother’s leftist political leanings. Anyone who tries to judge someone from the past by today’s standards can’t be taken seriously. I hate anyone who bows to SJW pressure and apologizes to try to save themselves from the braying mobs. Churchill was a great leader and those idiots would be speaking German if not for his leadership.

Proof that you no longer need a clanking pair to be an astronaut.

At least Dr. Evil had an excuse, he had been frozen for about 30 years and didn't account for inflation.

Supposedly Churchill may have been a great leader for England, but not for many of the colony's people. He supposedly was an avowed racist who made numerous comments about those who were starving. He supposedly cared little to nothing about them. Supposedly, he was not a good guy.

Gandhi was a racist. He also was a great leader. Franklin Roosevelt died in his lover’s arms. Martin Luther King was a philanderer. John Kennedy?? How does that stand up to the #metoo movement? I won’t even start naming the founding fathers and the issues peoples have with them these days.

As I said, people change their attitudes and you can’t judge people from the past by today’s standards. And sometimes people who are not “good guys” are good leaders and do great things. Just saying.
