It is not only the male species that dominate the world of business today. A lot of women have also entered into the scene and some of them have already proven their presence by becoming one of the top performers in the global arena. The past few years have been a groundbreaking time for women in the business since some of them became the first top executives of several big names in various industries. Just like the world's richest businessmen, there are numerous powerful and wealthy women in the world. However, the majority of them are living under the radar and out of the public's eye, so they remain not easily recognizable. They have amassed great wealth through a variety of ways - some were born rich while other have become very work-oriented which propelled them to the top. The world's richest women in business have built their fortunes after knowing how to nail the art of money-making. Some of them have built their own businesses and learned how to successfully run them. There are others who are working in top companies and took some powerful initiatives to climb up the corporate ladder to make their own names, starting from relatively simple means as they work to vault their way to the top of the chain. Take a look at our list of the richest businesswomen in the world and learn how they became exceptionally wealthy in their own means. Maybe you will be inspired to start your own thing as you see how these women have proven that they can play better than the big boys.

With all the news about Bezo getting divorced and his wife predicted to get $65 billion, such articles have been popping up.

Funny thing I noticed about the list: The top third of these "businesswomen" either married into the business/wealth in question or - the most common cause - inherited it from their father/grandfather/great-grandfather, etc. It's not until #34 that a woman is listed who started her business herself. In fact, there are only eight self-made businesswomen on the list. Five of them are Chinese.

And oddly, #53, #90, and #97 are clearly dudes. Not sure why they're on the list.

How is this possible with the Republican war on women, glass ceilings, #MeToo, wage inequality, and all of that other anti-women stuff?
