WWII veteran, 95, dies returning from 'Honor Flight'
ABC News - link

A 95-year-old World War II veteran died during a flight to San Diego on Monday evening, returning from an "Honor Flight" to Washington, D.C., to visit the WW II Memorial, the organization arranging the trip confirmed.

Frank Manchel was completing a trip arranged by Honor Flight San Diego a group that provides veterans with all-expense-paid trips to visit war memorials in the nation's capital.

"It is with our most deepest sympathy that we send our condolences to the Frank Manchel family," Honor Flight San Diego said in a statement on its Facebook page. "Mr. Manchel passed away on the flight to San Diego last evening. He collapsed and resuscitation measures were taken but he could not be revived."

RIP, Sgt. Frank Manchell.

Yeah, I know, you're not supposed to salute NCOs. But, what're they going to do? Throw me in the brig?

:salute:

Believe me, I am not happy he died, but I am happy he got to see the WWII memorial before he passed. It is an awesome memorial dedicated to some awesome people, him included.

He completed his last mission with honor, with dignity and with respect- I know of no greater reward for a Soldier.

Rest well Sergeant Manchel.

may his family find comfort, relief and the knowledge that his service brought Honor to his family.
