Here's why Ocasio-Cortez says members of Congress need a raise in their $174k salary

The Blaze
June 10, 2019

*EXCERPT*

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) reportedly said that she supported a proposed raise in the $174,000 salary for members of Congress, despite it being politically unpopular.

Chad Pergram of Fox News reported that the freshman member of Congress said that a prospective pay raise "may not be politically popular to say but honestly this is why there's so much pressure to turn to lobbying firms and to cash in on member service after people leave because precisely of this issue."

Luxury DC apartments don稚 pay for themselves, people. And c知on, after a grueling six months on the job doesn稚 she deserve a raise?

Seriously though, $174,000 a year for 138 斗egislative days of work? Democratic Socialists certainly are a greedy bunch...

Wait. So she is basically saying to pay her more. Or she will work on behalf of lobbying firms?

How is that not extortion?

I don't think these leftists even realize they're making threats. To them, it's just "common sense legislation".

Plus a very good retirement and health insurance. And let's not forget expense accounts, and the other compensation. Yeah, DC is damn pricey, but you tell me how many people her age with absolutely 0 experience in a professional trade or occupation(one that requires a degree, experience or skill) are making that kind of money?
The average American doesn't even make half that and they work at least as much OR MORE.

In the real world people have to keep their boss or bosses happy enough to earn their paycheck.
Funny how Congress doesn't seem to have this problem. It's telling how they can still get paid despite record low approval ratings year after year.

And just how much of a raise does she "think" it will take to remove that "issue" from the table? Triple her salary? Quadruple?? A million a year???

Wouldn't it be so cheaper and easier to just put a complete moratorium on lobbying for the first 10 years after any member leaves office, if that's really the "issue" she's worrying her empty little head over? Or is the pension and other perks not enough to avoid temptation, given her level of "integrity"?

Just a matter of time before she's accepting "tips" like at her old job, I guess.

Seems to me somebody needs to actually do something in order to earn a raise. I mean something besides spending 2 & a half years trying to destroy the duly-elected president, prevent him from getting anything done, lying and whining and crying, stampeding in a slobbering herd toward anybody holding a camera or a microphone, etc etc etc.

Considering all the time and millions of dollars they've spent doing anything except their jobs, I'd say all they've earned is a very severe cut in pay.

Sounds like the McCain argument when the Keating five scandal was exposed. Give us more money and we will quit being crooks .

Ever notice how Socialist Democrats preach about the corrupting evils of money, yet their solution to every problem is to give people more money?

True, who *wouldn't* want 3 luxury homes like Socialist Bernie?

Well, actually, I wouldn't. I have no interest in owning 3 homes. Or even 2 homes.

You know what I want?

I want the one thing Liberals will never give me. I want the insurance premiums I had before Obamacare.

That's it. That's all I want.
