For the 22nd time since Donald Trump took office, the number of employed Americans reached a record high last month, climbing 319,000 from August's record 157,878,000 to 158,269,000. At the same time, the number of unemployed Americans set a Trump-era low at 5,769,000.

Those two strong numbers pushed the nation's unemployment rate to 3.5 percent in September -- down two-tenths of a point from last month, and the lowest rate since December 1969.

In September, the civilian non-institutional population in the United States was 259,638,000. That included all people 16 and older who did not live in an institution (such as a prison, nursing home or long-term care hospital). Of that civilian non-institutional population, 164,039,000 were in the labor force, meaning that they either had a job or were actively seeking one during the last month.

That produced a labor force participation rate of 63.2 percent, the same as it was in August, and a Trump-era high. The higher this number, the better.

Of the 164,039,000 who were in the labor force, 5,769,000 were unemployed, which put the unemployment rate at a 50-year low of 3.5 percent.

The unemployment rate for Hispanics, 3.9 percent in September, has never been this low. The unemployment rate for blacks remained at the record low of 5.5 percent set in August.

Oh that racist Trump, putting blacks and Hispanics to work at a rate that bury's Obama. How dare Trump embarrass Obama when it comes to jobs and employment. Especially after cutting taxes.

I can't wait for the explanation of how this is the fault of retirees.

I'm "SEMI-retired". Sold off MOST of my biz in '12 except for a couple of pet projects with DoE. One was a project in Oak Ridge TN, not bad, then got asked by DoE if I could "help out" on a project in GA. "Six Months,Tops". That was 2013. Here I am, today. I'm semi-retired, yet have more work coming in that I can't EVEN spend enough time to keep all the Classic Mercedes-Benzes in my driveway up to shape.

And the "Media" says the economy is in a "downturn"????

Also can’t wait for the reasoning why this is bad for Hispanics and blacks, and why they shouldn’t vote for Trump.

Three days know and none of our resident experts have chimed in to say it's all Trumps fault or how retirees are to blame.
Oh that's right.... record low unemployment and record high labor force IS ALL TRUMPS FAULT....

Donald Trump reversed much of what Obama did economically. As soon as he did the economy took off. How is being Opposite-Barry Barry's doing? Barry never reached 3% GDP, told us that jobs were never coming back, and that 1.8% GDP growth was the new norm. Obama kept the emergency brakes on the economy. Trump released the breaks!

Soooo... you'll be disputing these numbers anytime know right?

It's mot like unemployement isn't just lower percentage wise right know then it was under Obama, but despite population growth less people are unemployed then ANYTIME under Obama, right? I mean 5,769(the current number) vs 7,503(December of 2016).
Ironic that Obama's best numbers happened AFTER the election of Trump

http://www.dlt.ri.go...us/us/usadj.htm

Come know, do tell us how evil bad Orange Man has put more people out of work. How he hates the blacks, and hispanics.... that black unemployment is not better know then it was under Obama. Should be easy right?

Amazing what happens when you get someone in charge who not only understands dollars and sense, not just bull sh$t and empty promises but also that RESULTS MATTER.
That's Trumps appeal, he comes from a back ground where bull sh$t walks, but results matter. Not only does the rank and file career politicians hate this as it undermines everything, the MSM largely hates him because he isn't playing the class warfare game, is getting results, and of coarse upset Hillary. He is his own worst enemy in regards to P.R. and the stuff he says, BUT, he is getting results and proving things can get done. This is why BOTH PARTIES despise the man, again, it totally undermines there say everything do nothing, blame the other party status quo game they have been playing (at our expense) for decades.
