Obama to Lefties: Get Over Being 'Woke'

Timothy Meads
Town Hall
10/30/19

EXCERPT:

Have you ever wondered how far left the Democratic Party has gone since 2008, let alone 2016? Well, as an example, former President Barack Obama likely would have been chased off the campaign trail had he made some recent comments of his as a 2020 Democratic primary candidate. On Tuesday, President Obama told an audience at the Obama Foundation Summit that they need to get over being "woke" and realize that simply judging people and "casting stones" does not equate to activism.

"This idea of purity and you’re never compromised and you’re always politically woke and all that stuff, you should get over that quickly," Obama told the group as seen in the clip below.

"The world is messy," he continued. "There are ambiguities. People who do really good stuff have flaws. People who you are fighting may love their kids. And you know, share certain things with you. And I think that one danger that I see amongst young people...and this is accelerated by social media, there is this sense sometimes of, 'the way of making change, is to be as judgmental as possible about other people.'"

"Like if I tweet or hashtag about how you didn’t do something right or used the wrong verb or then, I can sit back and feel good about myself, because, 'Man, You see how woke I was? I called you out.'I'm gonna get on TV. Watch my show, watch 'Grownish.' You know, that’s not activism," the president continued. "That’s not bringing about change."

"If all you're doing is casting stones, you're probably not going to get very far. That's easy to do," he remarked.

Lest anyone forget, after Obama's win in 2008, he said, "Change has come to America"! In case you've forgotten his orders to the border patrol to stand down, him admonishing young people to "Bring about change" is talking about open borders and Socialism...

Or Barry's quip "Get in their faces!" or "They bring a knife, we bring a gun!"

I think what he is saying is that being a keyboard warrior isn’t enough. He wants them out in the streets causing chaos.

Basically, except for the chaos part. He’s also saying that demanding idealogical purity (whatever form that takes) and ‘canceling’ all voices who disagree is counterproductive.
Mr. Obama has always been a practical politician rather than a barn burner.

OMG!!! You really believe this? Obama said, we won get over it. Called us bitter clingers, used his pen to make laws, used the IRS to target political opponents, etc.., yet he is practical and not a barn burner? Thanks for the morning laugh!!

Chumpy is trying to separate himself from his own Presidency. He is attempting damage control from the eventual blowback that the Democrats are insisting on themselves.

Of course she believes it. Why do you think she's become such a <censored>ing nutjob since Trump was elected?

The increased push for wokeness is causing friendly fire on the left. Suddenly their woke true believer followers are turning Alinsky's rules on them, forcing to live by their own rulebook whereas those like Obama only want the rules to apply to those on the right.

Good. It's awesome when people get exposed for who they really are.

This is probably the biggest reason for his comments.

Oh, please. When has there ever been an instance where true believers have turned on their teachers, dragged them out of the faculty lounge, and murdered them in the campus square?

:victim:

Obviously, the pedocrats want to signal that they are centrists in order to appeal to undecideds in the 2020 contest. This is not Obama's idea. He is incapable of thinking strategically or generating original thoughts. His handlers have given him a script.
