Well, uh, some boycotts are bad
Sarandon and her live-in boyfriend complain about boycotts against Hollywood celebrities who speak out? Listen to her giving assistance to the successful “Stop Dr. Laura” campaign (www.stopdrlaura.com). Sarandon gave the movement permission to mention her as a supporter fo the boycott:
Quote
"Dr. Laura has a right to her opinion, but I think it's irresponsible of Paramount to not give equal time, at the very least, to a person with a more enlightened and contemporary perspective. I'm totally against wasting the airwaves giving visibility to a person who is clearly in dire need of compassion, education, and a good shrink herself."

They Speak About Things You Wouldn’t Understand, Susan
Quote
"What's happened to Blair? I don't understand his reasoning or his logic. I don't understand his evolution. I can see him being seduced by (former US President) Clinton but don't understand what him and Bush speak about."

More Death Penalty Exaggeration
Quote
"In the US it is not a good time for anybody to feel strongly about things that are not popular", Sarandon went on, "and if you are against the death penalty it's like being against a war. Your loyalties to the government are questioned if you are against it."

Same Rant as Tim Robbins—Equating Al Qaeda with U.S. Busines
Quote
“Let us find a way to resist fundamentalism that leads to violence. Fundamentalism of all kinds, in al-Qaeda and within our government. And what is our fundamentalism? Cloaked in patriotism and our doctrine of spreading democracy throughout the world, our fundamentalism is business.”
“This [war] is about business, the business of distracting American attention from Enron and Haliburton, the financial scandals that directly connect this administration to the heart of what is now wrong with the American economy.”

What is it With These Loons and Oil?
Quote
"In the name of fear and fighting terror we are giving the reigns of power to oil men more interested in a financial bottom line than a moral bottom line. Oil men ready to expand their influence with new contracts on the soil our bombers have plowed…”
She goes on, finally teaching us why there is no democracy in the Arab states! Unbelievable!

“…New contracts forged with governments that do not allow democracy on their soil for fear of losing control over the oil that governs their lives, that governs our lives.”

Susan and Tim Threaten to Wreck Career of Fellow Actors
Quote
Whatever the explanation, SAGtivist Susan Sarandon was outraged. As for Tim Robbins, her long-time partner, well, he seems to have been channeling Stalin's prosecutor, the late, and much-missed, Andrei Vyshinsky. "We are bringing Hurley to trial," he foamed, "She will not get away with it." Note that "we." As Mr. Robbins, a prominent supporter of the strike, well knows, his comments are likely to resonate with those union officials responsible for deciding the former fembot's fate. The consequences of a "guilty" verdict could be serious. The equally influential Ms. Sarandon has supported calls for a lifetime ban on "scab" actors. If the case goes against Ms. Hurley she may never work in Hollywood again.
This is not a problem that is likely to face her tormentors. The spectacle of two successful stars threatening to destroy the career of a fellow actor, would, you might think, at least raise a flicker of concern or a murmur of protest, but it has not. No one is even asking what it is about Ms Hurley that has so enraged Mr. Robbins. After all, she is not the highest profile performer to have crossed the picket lines. Tiger Woods, for example, broke union rules to shill for Buick (he has since been fined for this offense), while Shaquille O'Neal did the same for Disney. On these cases, however, the exquisitely PC Sarandon and Robbins are not reported as having had much to say. Criticizing Elizabeth Hurley, a foreigner, was one thing. Telling the popular athletes, people of Color after all, where they could or could not work, might have been altogether more awkward.
