White House Involved in a 9/11 Cover-Up

Graham charged that the Bush administration sat on key intelligence data that could have prevented al Qaeda car bombing attack in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - as well as the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. He told CBS's "Face the Nation" that the White House was involved in a 9/11 cover-up.

Quote

"There was information which the administration and its agencies knew before Sept. 11 but was not acted upon. That same information was available today. It's not being acted upon today. That failure to act contributed to Sept. 11 and the failure to act today continues [to leave] Americans in a vulnerable circumstance."

"What this administration has done is they have conducted an ideological war in Iraq where they have not found the weapons of mass destruction upon which it was predicated. And at the same time, they have stopped the war on terrorism...We have let al Qaeda off the hook..."

Graham Confused About How Many Letters in 'Deceit'
Bob Graham, in sharply criticizing President Bush's veracity about Iraq's weapons programs, got a bit confused about the number of letters in the word "deceit."

Quote

"I would not use the three-letter word," the Florida senator told reporters. "I would use the five-letter word: deceit. That he deceived the American people by allowing into a State of the Union speech at a critical point when he was making the case for war with Iraq, a statement that he either knew was wrong or should have known was wrong."

If Democrats were in control of the House, Graham was asked if he would support impeachment.

Quote

"If the standard of impeachment that the Republicans set for Bill Clinton -- a personal, consensual relationship was the basis for impeachment, would not a president who knowingly deceived the American people about something as important as whether to go to war meet the standard of impeachment?"

"The Dishonesty Of the President"

The Dishonesty Of the President
By Bob Graham
Newsday.com
July 17, 2003

Excerpt:

"The administration of George W. Bush is looking more and more like a bait-and-switch operation. Much like a profiteer who advertises a too-good-to-be-true deal to lure customers into his store, this White House is willing to shade and manipulate information to sell its policies to the American people and our allies around the world.

"But that cynical strategy erodes our government's credibility at home and abroad. It must stop.

"To justify a pre-emptive war with Iraq, President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and other high-level officials selectively used - and may have misused - intelligence information to make the case that Saddam Hussein posed an imminent threat to his neighbors, to U.S. interests in the Mideast and even to Americans here at home."
