Bush Administration Deceiving Nation, FBI Responsible for Lack of Black Leadership

University of California at Berkeley Graduation Ceremony, African Studies Department, Commencement Address, May 17, 2003

Quote

"Special interests have taken control of our nation's capital and are perverting it from the noble traditions of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Kennedy, and instead are using our precious national resources for personal profit and personal needs."

Quote

"The entire 'Saving Private Lynch in Iraq' episode was staged by the US military. On advice from PR spinmeisters, the Pentagon ignored efforts by Iraqi doctors to return Private Lynch in an Iraqi ambulance. Instead, according to the BBC, the Pentagon fired on the ambulance so they could then stage a rescue and stage a firefight at the hospital and remove Private Lynch. This was all done to galvanize the American people to support the war...

But we should understand that the Bush Administration is not alone in deceiving us."

"For the first time since the founding of our country, our nation's foreign policy blueprint calls for global military domination--an 'American Century.'"

Why the African American community lacks strong leadership:

Quote

"The answer to that question took me to the Counterintelligence program of the FBI and its aim to destroy, discredit, or otherwise neutralize black leadership in America. Now, those aren't my words, they are the words of the FBI. From there, It's just a short line to asking why [Black Panther leader] Geronimo Pratt spent 27 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, rather than in the US Congress where he could have made a better America for all of us."

Quote

"Because of the voting debacle in Florida that robbed blacks and Latinos of their right to vote and have that vote counted, it was clear that this Administration had embarked on a path that constituted a fundamental shift of epic proportions and was doing it on a foundation of questionable and uncertain legitimacy."

Republicans Stole Right of Free and Fair Elections

White House "Just Full of Latent Racists"

Quote

McKinney has a strong record of hating America. During the recent U.N. World Conference Against Racism, she attacked the U.S. saying the White House is "just full of latent racists."

Apology Letter to Prince Alwaleed

Quote

Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal visited New York to see the WTC remains and gave NY Mayor Giuliani a $10 million check for relief efforts. Then, the prince released a statement full of moral equivocations, rationalizing the murder of 6,000 innocent Americans and blaming U.S. foreign policy, "suggesting" it be changed.

Giuliani promptly returned the check with a statement: "There is no moral equivalent for this attack. The people who did it lost any right to ask for justification when they slaughtered 5,000, 6,000 innocent people ... Not only are those statements wrong, they're part of the problem."

In a ludicrous, pandering letter, McKinney apologized to the prince for Giuliani's actions, accusing Giuliani of denying the prince's "right to speak and make observations about a part of the world you know so well."

"Your Royal Highness, the state of Black America is not good." McKinney wrote, "There are many people in America who desperately need your generosity."

Implies Sept. 11 Administration Plot

"persons close to this administration are poised to make huge profits off America's new war."

"We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on September 11th. . . . What did this administration know and when did it know it, about the events of September 11th? Who else knew, and why did they not warn the innocent people of New York who were needlessly murdered? . . . What do they have to hide?"

Quote

"What is undeniable is that corporations close to the administration have directly benefited from the increased defense spending arising from the aftermath of September 11th," McKinney charged. "America's credibility, both with the world and with her own people, rests upon securing credible answers to these questions."

Makes excuses and accusations for an altercation with a Capital Police officer
A capital police officer called for McKinney to stop 2-3 times after she by-passed a security check point, he didn't recognize her and she wasn't wearing her congressional pin that signifies they are a member of congress and don't have to pass through metal detectors. When she didn't stop he put his hand on her arm to stop her and she hit him in the chest.
This was, of course, according to McKinney because of racism:

Quote

McKinney had not admitted she struck the officer, and she has rejected claims that he didn't recognize her because she altered her appearance. McKinney recently changed her trademark hairstyle from two tight French braids to looser curls that surround her face.

"What I would say, however, is that [this is] much ado about a hairdo," McKinney told FOX News on Wednesday. She also has claimed that her being stopped is due to racial profiling. The police officer who stopped her is white.

Somehow not recognizing a member of congress because of their minority status is racist:

Quote

She said since she is one of only 14 black female representatives, she shouldn't be that hard to recognize by Capitol Police. But others say McKinney has a history of racially charged accusations.

After pressure from the Black Caucus, little support from other members of congress, and facing a grand jury investigation, McKinney reversed her stance nearly a week later and issued an apology on the House floor.

Quote

"I am sorry that this misunderstanding happened at all and I regret its escalation, and I apologize,"
"There should not have been any physical contact in this incident."

Quote

The night before the apology, members of the Congressional Black Caucus urged McKinney in a private meeting to find a way to put the matter to rest, said a person familiar with the session.

What McKinney called a "misunderstanding" on Thursday she had labeled "racial profiling" and "inappropriate touching" a day earlier. For nearly a week, she and her lawyers had insisted she had been assaulted and had done nothing wrong. She is black and the police officer is white.
