They are gouging us in the eyes again, Congress is not fit to serve its constituents.

The Lewinsky era has never been brought to a close.

Our government has become one giant turd.

Keep your powder dry brothers and sisters.

"Congressional" and "ethics" are two words that just don't go together!

Many of us here have been putting out the clarion call here for over a decade on how truly rotten and corrupt that our government and institutions are on all levels, but now those who made fun of us sentries warning everyone have since witnessed it all come out into the open.

Again, more conspiracy fact.

The bottom line is the pure unbridled greed for money and power.

The ultra rich are the biggest and worst criminals in the world, not street corner thugs.

As Gallagher once said:

"Con is the opposite of Pro. That's why Congress is the opposite of Progress."

Or, one could take the H.L. Mencken-ish and viewpoint and say that Congress is EXACTLY fit to serve its constituents, given that NONE of these crooks would be in congress but for the morons in the voting booths that put them there.

Or as I said all during the Obama years, the problem is not that the USA has (1) Obama, the problem is that the USA has 69 million cretins that would vote for someone like Obama. (And 65 million cretins who would vote for someone like Hillary)(We've just BARELY dodged a Bullet).

(As an aside, it's also why I'm NOT a fan of term limits. YES, term limits are why we don't have Obama for a third term. But woo-frickin'-hoo because term limits are also why we came THIS close to having the first term of someone every bit as bad as Obama if not worse.) (We REALLY dodged a bullet.)

"
Democracy
is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard."

- H.L. Mencken

Or, something a bit longer:

When a candidate for public office faces the voters he does not face men of sense; he faces a mob of men whose chief distinguishing mark is the fact that they are quite incapable of weighing ideas, or even of comprehending any save the most elemental...

So confronted, the candidate must either bark with the pack, or count himself lost. His one aim is to disarm suspicion, to arouse confidence in his orthodoxy, to avoid challenge. ...

All the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most easily adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.

The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men.

As
Democracy
is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people.

We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Ah, there's the problem. That pesky D-Word. The USA was never meant to be one. "A Republic, if you can keep it", said Mr. Franklin. Well, it was but we couldn't. Can anyone here deny with a straight face that, especially over the past 150 years, we've BECOME a "Democracy" for all intents and purposes?

Fix THAT, and most of the other problems fix themselves.

From "The Devil's Dictionary" by Ambrose Bierce:

Politics - n. - A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage.
