CNN Falls Below Kids Network Nickelodeon in Cable Ratings

The Western Journal

By Randy DeSoto

May 22, 2018

excerpt:

CNN came in behind Nickelodeon and Home and Garden Television and just a few slots above the History Channel in the latest cable network ratings.

Meanwhile, Fox News Channel topped the list as the most watched network on cable television for the 18th straight week in a row, AdWeek reported, based on Nielsen Media Research ratings for the week of May 14 to May 20.

Coming in behind Fox were Turner Network Television, MSNBC, Nickelodeon, and Home and Garden Television.

CNN ranked No. 7 followed closely by USA Network, the History Channel and Food Network.

I do not think they actually care about CNN ratings. I think they are working for "the greater good". They can say they put principle before profit. :biglaugh:

I'm sure their stockholders appreciate that. . .

Nickelodeon has surpassed CNN in ratings because Nickelodeon provides more credible news coverage than CNN does.

What's her job title? "Truth-Denier"? "Lie-Maker-Upper"? "Fact-Sweeper-Under-Rugger"?

Sucks that I can remember CNN's beginnings. They were a "breath of fresh air" compared to Network News at the time which was VERY well lampooned by the film Network (1976). They were "News" 24/7 which meant they had people where others didn't just to get material. Their BEST was probably Wolf Blitzer's coverage of Gulf War I in '92. But... since then?

With apologies to Percy Bysshe Shelley:

I met a traveller from an antique land,

Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone

Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,

Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,

The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;

And on the pedestal, these words appear:

My name is CNN, King of Kings; [Call it "poetic license". So sue me.]

Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare

The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Yup, I too remember when CNN launched. It was 1980 and I was 25 years old. Back then it was actually reliable most of the time.

Back then.

Things have changed over the years.

CNN faked most of their gulf war coverage from their studio in Atlanta with a blue screen.

These taken from raw feeds from a home satellite dish.

They were never aired on TV in entirety. They were edited and doctored up.

So much for your breath of fresh air?

It was practically a fart in the face but sold as lilacs.

People believed that it was. They/we were all duped.

They lied and faked just as much then as they do now.

And just for the record: I actually WAS paid once to "watch paint dry". You know those [can't mention the brand] spray paint that say "dry to the touch" in an hour? (Have I mentioned my "dirty jobs" days? this was one.) After an hour, Lightly touch it, with no more pressure than it would take to move a 1 KG object. Does it leave a fingerprint visible to the unaided eye?

The major spray paint manufacturer passed the test. I think I got like $30 for the day.

It's the risk we run by allowing democrats/progressives to post here too.
