Hating The President Is Not a Strategy, As Bill Kristol Just Learned

Article:

Going all in on attacking President Trump isn't proving to be a particularly effective business strategy for media outlets.

The Weekly Standard, a 28-year old neoconservative institution, is reportedly headed towards dissolution after its founder, Bill Kristol, devoted almost three years of work to attacking the President and his supporters.

It's not just Kristol. The entire world of clickbait Trump-hate seems to be in jeopardy, including sites that cater to the liberal base.

The same week that The Weekly Standard's troubles broke, Vanity Fair dropped a bombshell report about the struggles faced by those hip, millennial-targeted left-wing rags with the cool names and rabidly anti-Trump headlines strewn across your social media feed. Vice, Vox, Mic, Buzzfeed, Mashable — they're all either looking for buyers or seriously reevaluating their strategies in hopes of becoming profitable. Mic laid off most of its workers. Vice and Vox are firing staff left and right.

On cable TV, one network in particular has abandoned decades of journalistic tradition and ethics, devoting its resources to a relentless, nakedly partisan crusade to savage President Trump: CNN. Its ratings, predictably, are in the tank — in October, CNN fell behind both the Hallmark Channel and Home and Garden Television.

The "resistance" media strategy is not only corrosive to the country; it seems to be a loser business model. Kristol's descent into fringe irrelevance and the possible end of his once-illustrious magazine is a perfect illustration.

People on the right should start thinking more strategically about two things: media and education. We need especially young people to learn about the virtues of capitalism rather than socialism, about true fairness rather than targeted favoritism, about liberty rather than bondage, about independence rather than subservience, about the Constitution rather than the Green New Deal.

The failures of these media groups is an obvious sign that there’s a huge opportunity. Go to college and it’s fine to major in non-science directions but learn enough about how to make stuff run and how to manage organizations and how to present stuff. And start media companies or join ones that aren’t too far left. Get the media and arts off welfare. A fair and balanced version of NPR would take off. People like to hear news and facts all the time, and like to be told the whole story, both sides. It’s baffling to me why powerful people on the right let the Soroses of the world continue to dominate the media and arts.

I'm not. I've enjoyed reading and disagreeing with Bill Kristol and others over the years.

These writers were by no means conservatives.

They were deep state establishment proggy bitches posing as conservatives, hence why you're defending them here.

I'm delighted that these phonies are out of a job trashing real conservatives.

No they're not.

They have not had Trump's back on anything as of yet.

Trump has accomplished everything but the tax cuts all on his own with zero help from the republicans.

Once more you're entirely clueless.

Don't kid a kidder. Your reaction about Trump has never been one of amusement or mirth. Only misery. Kristol was no different. Please.

An improved economy, low unemployment, better foreign relations and lower fuel costs sure sucks, doesn't it? Your petty attitude about Trump, just because you didn't expect him to win the election, can only be described as CRAAAZY.

Either you're not particular observant or you are talking out of your rear.

Anyway, the President of the United States doing yet another nyah-nyah nyah nyah-nyah tweet at the loss of a business, or the loss of an election like he did with republicans who didn't kiss his ass, I think is petty, narcissistic, and as usual meant to appeal only to his 'always-and-forever' Trumpkins.

Since I am not a republican or conservative (well, maybe just tad), I find it amusing.

You can't get much more petty and narcissistic than saying "I won" when refusing to discuss policy with colleagues. Difference is Media pretended The Precedent was the soul of compassion and decorum. Everyone knew Trump was an a$$hat from the beginning.

Yeah, and the order of things matters. If the left weren’t so power hungry, they would have supported GWB through the Iraq war and invasion and we would have done a much better job. And then there would have been no Obama, or at the very least it would have been a more civil atmosphere. And if Obama hadn’t tried to ram all manner of socialism down our throats while declaring himself the king with a phone and a pen, yeah maybe there would have been no need for Trump to come in and tell the left you people really suck and you gotta stop destroying our children’s future. Yeah, so the order of events matters. Trump is here because the left (and the deep state) needed to know that we the people will still use our sledgehammer if you push us too much. Behave, and we’ll be cool, and we’ll keep the Trumps in the closet.

To split hairs, Trump merely ran on all the things the GOP were supposedly about, and unlike most politicians/Presidents, keeping his word.

If you looked closer, I believe you would find Trump's message is/was a nationalistic one, not Dem/Repub. I can understand disagreement over how to push our nation first through agendas and policies. What seems to be the case is the Left - especially and really all the deeply rooted D.C. culture, news media and so-called Deep-Staters are actively against America via attacking Trump.

The GOP establishment is far from blameless in selling out our country and American's interests. But funny enough the other clan (you) don't seem to be able to identify all the wrongs your side is guilty of doing. Where is the Left's outrage at how the Obama's, the Clinton's, Bush's, etc have sold us out. They keep you guys pointed at the one outsider trying to end the corruption.
