All Democrats are hypocrites. It's the price of admission. It makes you dishonest, not necessarily stupid.

JMO.

Personally, I think the price of admission to the democratic party also includes being incredibly stupid. They have to be so they can push for policies that are detrimental. They simply use the dishonesty to achieve their goal(s).

I also don't believe that all Democrats are stupid. I think that many of them simply have their pet special interest...gay marriage, abortion, the current gender circus nonsense, anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian, punishing the rich, climate change, whatever...that the Dems pander to for their loyalty. Their pet special interest is so important to them that they put up with the rest of the Democrat crap so that they don't lose their "thing." The Democrat party, since it is amoral and has no principle other than power, is more than happy to oblige and pander to any and every fringe and minority out there.

Very well put!..and in a slightly different fashion the Republican's do the same...when they go behind the curtain of Kabuki theater they are almost all the same breed of graft weasels that we continually elect...We know this..and so do they (the Dems) Question is can we come together on enough things to keep this thing going?..I think the shrinkage due to the Shumer/Trump shutdown is overall a good thing..."Change my mind"

Our local Coast Guard members are not getting paid. I guess they're just a bunch worthless whiners that the right believes are most government workers.

https://13wham.com/news/local/local-coast-guard-members-feeling-effects-of-government-shutdown

If I didn't get for four weeks, with no end in sight, I'd have to dip into the retirement savings.

Ok. And with recent legislation, everyone not being paid WILL receive that pay when government 'resumes'. So what's the problem? With guaranteed back pay coming, everyone will be able to replace the 401k funds and the low or no interest emergency loans many banks are offering. Pain in the butt to go through all this, sure, but I don't think it qualifies as a 'crisis'.

Most Coast Guard folks are considered 'essential' so, yeah, they'll get paid.

And yes, in my experience MOST government workers are less than 'quality' employees, sorry to say.

I am sick of hearing this argument about "they will eventually be paid". I am one of the furloughed essential government employees that have not been paid since December 22. I have worked in law enforcement at the southwest border for the past 27 years. I fully know that I will be paid eventually but the question is when. We all have mortgage payments, bills, feed our families, pay utilities, and other financial responsibilities. This shutdown is not of our doing. We are working at the border without pay. All I know is that the officers working at the border are very dedicated and professional even without being paid. I totally agree with LB on this and not some of my fellow republicans. Just a couple of days ago, one of our officers got seriously injured while on the job and tell his wife and new born that its ok because he will eventually be paid. Tell that other officers who are trying to figure out how they will feed their family or pay their mortgage. Some mortgage companies are willing to work with the officers but a lot are not willing to work with them, when the mortgage is due, they need to pay (like mine). Please stop grouping all federal employees in one lump sum.

I am all for getting our border secured and building a wall. Walls work and the US has the right to regulate who we let in. I know I am hurting myself supporting the President. I would say at least 70% of our officers also support the President. Most of us are blaming the democrats on this shut down. They are the ones no0t willing to negotiate with the President. They spent last weekend in Puerto Rico hob knobbing with lobbyist and then Pelosi wanted to take a world tour instead of negotiating. The President has been at the WH wanting to work this out but the democrats are the ones refusing to do anything. This is all political for the democrats because they hate the President that much. If his was any other President, the funding would be approved.

This shut down is affecting a lot of dedicated, hard working, patriotic officers (mass majority are veterans). Please have some regards to these officers and employees. None of this is of our doing. We are the ponds of the political elite. All of you bad mouthing us, would you like to work and put your life on the line for no pay (yes we are not getting paid but are required by law to show up for work) and would you like to hear the people we are protecting bad mouthing you just because we are government employees. We all have families that we need to take care of like everyone else and not knowing when you will be paid again puts a lot of stress on all of us. Also remember, once we do get paid, unless it changes, we will get our back pay, it will be in one lump sum so we will get killed in taxes.

Rant off.

Hi Ken.

I can sympathize, up to a point.

As a small biz owner, We hit this in '09, just after a crash, when a major prime contractor said to us in so many words: "Terms are now Net-120 rather that Net-30; take it or leave it." We took it. What CHOICE did we have? Bear in mind that "cash flow" is the lifeblood; the be-all end-all for ANY business big OR small. Fortunately, we had reserves, and as an aside, I could publish at least 20 recipes for making Ramen Noddles tasty.

Net-120 with no interest or fees? You're a hell of a negotiator.

I might need those recipes for Top Ramen LOL.

How about those of us who got laid off WITHOUT ever getting money for the time we didn’t have jobs? We got laid off because of “business reasons” which were often problems caused by upper management who didn’t get laid off but who decided which business units to close. So I would say those weren’t our fault either.

I can sympathize and empathize and wish NOBODY would have to go without a paycheck and have financial problems and have to dip into future savings or other future money. But I can do that only up to the point where I realize that there are a lot of uncertainties in life and when someone is furloughed WITH back pay, and continues to whine, that’s what it mostly is - whining.

I feel for all of the people who get laid off and understand that it isn't any of their fault. I am just talking about my job and not any other furlough jobs or employees. I was not whining about being on unpaid status. I am just getting tired of getting blasted by people that claim we are lazy, worthless or many other insults just because we are government employees that will be back pay. I do not need your symphony, all I am saying is why are we getting so insulted just because of where we work. There is one HUGE difference with people being laid off and officers ( I know not all furlough employees, essential or non-essential are not officers). Officers are working in a non-paid status while still requiring to arrest drug smugglers, alien smugglers, murder suspects, and many other dangerous felony. Everyday we report to work, we do not know if we will be going home at the end of our shift. Like I said in my other post, a co-worker was seriously injured the other day and still in the hospital because a drug smuggler did not want to be arrested and assaulted him. Would you put your life on the line everyday at work knowing that you are (at the present time) not being compensated for your work and not knowing when you will be finally compensated. Like I said before, many officers , including myself, support the President concerning the building of the wall because we know it would protect our country and our citizens.

This argument should be on the politician who have made this situation what it is and not the employees who are affected. I sure don't remember anyone blasting employees that were laid off from private employers stating that they deserve it, are lazy, or are worthless. I remember people blaming the employer for being greedy or whatever other reason. Yes there are federal employees that are bad apples (watching porn or many other reasons) but you should not group us all together.

Its the politicians fault for not doing their Constitutional duties then the federal employees.

No I'm not. We were on the receiving end of it; it was US that had to wait 120 days. Or not get it at all.

I started the "Smithee Organization" late summer '08 in the catbird seat with 2 years worth of projects lined up mostly among three biggies: Chevron, Intel, and Conoco-Philips. It was enough to pay the bills and then some, and anything thing ELSE that came in the door was gravy. I didn't even need to hire a sales staff or business development manager.

By 2010, That had run out. Intel, especially, had hit hard times and was laying off by the thousands. Chevron and Conoco were in a "holding pattern": Not laying off, but not doing anything "new either". Not much was coming in except the occasional "maintenance" project for a day or two here and there. We get offered some projects from a MAJOR player on $250K upwards "Capitol" projects but only if we accept "Net 120" terms. Yes, of course I accepted.

In the Industrial Automation world, "System Integrators" come and go. The "Smithee Organization" has just passed 10 years.

I was being sarcastic. Although I can understand why you accepted those terms at the time, it would have been smarter to impose an serious late fee if (when) not received in 120. By serious, I mean 20-25%. It's been my experience that those who demand net-120 never pay on time either and it would have given you the opportunity to redeem some cash lost in these outrageous terms.

This is off topic, but I hope for your sake, you learned from it.
