‘DISRESPECTFUL’: GOOGLE EMPLOYEES MELT DOWN OVER THE WORD ‘FAMILY’

10:10 PM 01/16/2019 | INVESTIGATIVE GROUP

Peter Hasson | Reporter

Daily Caller

Excerpt:

  •
  • Google employees melted down after the word “family” was used in a company presentation, documents obtained by TheDCNF show.
  • Employees were upset that the word was used in a way that links families with children, which they argued was homophobic.
  • A Google vice president acknowledged that the word “family” had sparked “concerns” about inclusivity.

A Google executive sparked a fierce backlash from employees by using the word “family” in a weekly, company-wide presentation, according to internal documents obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Many Google employees became angry that the term was used while discussing a product aimed at children, because it implied that families have children, the documents show. The backlash grew large enough that a Google vice president addressed the controversy and solicited feedback on how the company could become more inclusive.

TheDCNF received the documents from a source who insisted upon anonymity in order to share them.

One employee stormed out of the March 2017 presentation after a presenter “continued to show (awesome) Unicorn product features which continually use the word ‘family’ as a synonym for ‘household with children,'” he explained in an internal thread. That employee posted an extended rant, which was well-received by his colleagues, on why linking families to children is “offensive, inappropriate, homophobic, and wrong.”

In.F'ing.Cred.Ib.Le.

I swear, it's getting more and more difficult to differentiate between actual real-life events and the kind of stuff they write for the Babylon Bee, the Onion, Scrappleface, etc.

Anybody who's "offended" by the use of the word "family" needs serious psychological help.

Reading about who they are hanging out with, they seem to have removed themselves, albeit temporarily.

Crazy morons, don't gay people have families too? These idiots would be triggered with a hello.

How stupid of you not to realize the gay lifestyle is an abomination that doesn't produce children. And if the word "family" refers to a couple with children, you've failed to include gays. So, your challenge then, is to come up with a word that includes everyone, not just couples with children. If we can change the meaning of the words gay and perverted, surely we can come up with a suitable substitute for family!

From the OP:

If you mean “children”, say “children”; we have a perfectly good word for it. “Family friendly” used as a synonym for “kid friendly” means, to me, “you and yours don’t count as a family unless you have children”.

The fact is that some families cannot or choose not to have children.

The fact is the phrase "family friendly" has meant what it has meant in common speech for a long time. The majority shouldn't have bend over backwards over and over and over again, censoring every tiny word or phrase in fears that it may offend a incredibly small yet incredibly vocal minority. We're not talking about a racial slur, homophobic slur, or any other offensive prhase, we're talking about basic speech. People need to grow thicker skin when it comes to so called "micro [/nano] pico-aggressions," because if they're so easily offended by something so utterly trivial, they can't possibly function in society.

By focusing on the fear of giving offense, you're missing the point - which is to include as many families as possible and NOT to define the word narrowly or in terms of children.

As long as they get air time and can maintain the hope that they can cash in on claiming to have had their human rights violated, they will continue to pinpoint the pico-aggressions to sub atomic particle size to get a payday and a victory over others.

The point is the the members of the perpetually offended have found something else utterly trivial to be offended over and thus beat people over the head with, so they make demands that others conform to their latest nonsense. Someone didn't write their memo in liberal approved NEWSPEAK, so they have to cry.

Wow, that’s a micro aggression. Mod T could be really triggered. But I think he can manage. Especially against you as the micro aggressor.

Did the issue remain internal?

It did not, and what benefit was there to the memo going public?

Hmm, let me think...

Everything excludes someone by some degree. That’s life. Gaybirds only care about things that exclude other gaybirds. Therefore their outrage is selective. Which means their principles are self serving and exclusionary in and of themselves.
