...is this a serious comment?

Were you born yesterday? If not you may have noticed that We The People have long ago decided that we will have certain labor laws inforced by our government.

We have government making sure that people do no enter into slavery contracts and we make sure people are minimally compensated for their labor through minimum wage laws.

Don't want government regulating labor? Ok go ahead and win some elections running on that. Good luck.

Quit while you’re ahead. Just shut up.

Yes it is and it is not surprising that the "point" of it sailed right over the one on your head. Nice strawman, Poindexter. When did I say not to "regulate" labor.

This isn't the early 1900s. As you point out, regulations are already in place. So now, let's look at this as if we were in 2019, OK?

We are at full employment. Competition for labor, even unskilled labor, is stiff. Why do you and your leftist ilk need to put your fat noses in an employment contract between a willing worker and an employer?

Lots of people don't "leverage" the maximum salary that they could have. Do you want to legislate and regulate that for everyone? What is so special about entry level positions?

Natural Selection

Great point. I would add that leftists clearly want to limit the maximum income as well by setting insane tax rates above a certain income level. My guess is that after they establish this "acceptable" income range, Central Planning will step in and determine the "fair" wages for each occupation.

Baby steps towards communism...

In capitalism with freedom and free markets, there are many - almost infinite - individual paths people can take in life. That is so much more rewarding and happier than the socialism being rammed down our throats.

Just as another anecdotal example, socialists are always adhering to “fixed pie” thinking and are appealing to “fixed set of rich and poor”. It’s simplistic but effective. Fixed pie allows the left to argue that those who have more took it from those who have less. Fixed rich and poor allows the left to argue that the bad guys are always the same.

In reality, neither argument is true. The pie isn’t fixed, it expands dynamically with economic conditions. The rich aren’t always the same (yes, some are) - many small business owners go in and out of great years and lean years. It’s natural and actually such swings “spread the wealth” without government interference.
