Gavin Newsom admits it: Green energy mandates are driving California's blackouts

Article:

As Democrats tout their green new deal at their virtual convention, an ugly picture is emerging from California as to what that looks like:

According to Deadline Hollywood:

As temperatures broke records across the state, California energy officials announced the first rolling blackouts in the state since 2001 and warned that the state was bracing for what could be the largest power outage it has ever seen, likely on Monday.

And it was pretty bad, Caracas-bad if you lived in the wrong parts. Yet this is the California that touts itself as "the model" for Democrats' climate action, and what the Democrats holding their convention this week would like to impose on the rest of the states if God forbid, Joe Biden gets elected president.

Gov. Gavin Newsom, who's in the middle of this, and probably hearing from his Silicon Valley baron allies, is finally admitting the truth about the failure of green energy to deliver actual energy when it's needed, calling on the state to 'sober up.'

According to Breitbart, which is the only news agency out there not editing these 'inconvenient truths' from their stories:

One reason the state lacked power, officials admitted, was its over-reliance on “renewables” — i.e. wind and solar power.

There was not enough wind to keep turbines going, Newsom said, and cloud cover and nightfall restricted solar power.

“While we’ve had some peak gust winds,” he explained, “wind gust events across the state have been relatively mild.”

...and...

“We failed to predict and plan these shortages,” Newsom admitted boldly, “and that’s simply unacceptable.” He said he took responsibility for the crisis, and for addressing it immediately, so that “we never come back into this position again.”

Newsom said the state would try to address shortfalls through conservation, and through procuring new sources of energy.

Though the state would continue its “transition” to 100% renewable energy, Newsom said, “we cannot sacrifice reliability as we move forward in this transition.”

And sure enough it was the state's greenie energy mandates, which require at least half of all energy produced in the state be from "alternative" energy sources by now, which as can be seen are not only pricier but far less reliable and efficient.

Also throw in the fact that utility costs are a huge factor in manufacturing.  If heat, water, electricity(etc) are insane in one area a manufacturer is not going to locate there.

But yet this is a model for everyone else?  it is something to tout as the way to go?

Are other states experiencing the same thing as CA in regards to electrical outages and issues?  No matter how much you dream about it, no matter how many times you say make it work, make it happen, laws you sign, and mandates you make.  'Clean energy' will only get you so much.  Thinking you can snap your fingers and force what ever percentage of power needs to come from 'Green Energy' is a fools idea and a recipe for disaster.

Poor planning is the Democrat way. No vision of second order effects. You almost made sense for a minute.

Again you can only get so much from Green Energy.  Model?  Your own new Hero Biden is pushing for it, HE IS PUSHING FOR A %100 GREEN ENERGY WITHIN 15 years!

https://www.americanexperiment.org/2020/07/bidens-new-energy-plan-is-terrible/

One state(California) can't even meet half that.  It isn't poor planning, it's trying to make something happen which is simply not possible at this time.

He is not "my hero" and him pushing for carbon emmisions free power generation (which is not the same as green energy btw) within 15 years does not mean that we should be poorly planning and sacrificing grid stability.

:WTF:

It was quoted directly from Newsom himself. Link

See the name "Newsom" in the sentence?  See it?  See the word, "said" after it?  See it?  That means the article is indicating the following words are not theirs, but Gavin Newsom himself.  Now.  See those two little upper oriented comma shapes that are past the comma after the word 'said'?  See em?  That indicates it is a direct and unedited quotation (or words) that were said by the Newsom.  That quotation then ends when another set of upper oriented comma shapes that are the mirror image of the comma shapes beginning.  That means the words that were spoken then end and the words of the author then continue.

Now, this is where it gets tricky.  If another set of quotation marks (those dual upper oriented comma shapes) comes again, that means the same speaker (Newsom in this case) is continuing to 'speak' within what is written.  That continues until another speaker is quoted.  Then that person 'has the floor' in the case of the narrative.  This is optional however, the author may specify the speaker with each quotation.

You need to work on your use of pronouns.

Of course they didn't.  But that's, of course, implicit in all their decisions.  They demand certain things without considering the consequences.

Defund the Police

Minimum Wage

Green Energy

the list goes on.

But keep stepping on the rake.  It's fun to watch.  Because that's exactly and precisely what's going on with rolling blackouts in California.

The context is that not one actually said that (as you conceed) and you are just erecting a silly strawman.

No one in their right mind says that there are no effects to different policies and technologies that should be considered.

This is amazing. We have been warning of this for decades. Ever since these idiot marxists have been touting all this crap from the 70's on. You forget that SOLAR panels NEED the SUN? That wind turbines need the damn wind? This is unpredictable? Then you are an idiot and deserve nothing but scorn. Wind is not always blowing to provide power. Sun only shines for 1/2 a day, and clouds interfere. Any child knows these things. They turned Commiefornia into Baghdad overnight! Just like them .

<emphasis mine>

That is false.

Why?  Because I'm not making an argument to knock said "strawman" down.

I'm giving a hyperbolic example of an overall leftist pattern of thought.  e.g. That they endorse proposals without consideration of the long term consequences.  This is not a strawman.
