In secretly recorded audio, President Trump's sister says he has 'no principles' and 'you can't trust him'

The transcripts from 15 hours of recordings by Trump's niece Mary from conversations in 2018 and 2019 reveal the depths of discord between the president and his sister.

Minneapolis Star Tribune   August 22, 2020

Maryanne Trump Barry was serving as a federal judge when she heard her brother, President Trump, suggest on Fox News, “maybe I’ll have to put her at the border” amid a wave of refugees entering the United States. At the time, children were being separated from their parents and put in cramped quarters while court hearings dragged on.

“All he wants to do is appeal to his base,” Barry said in a conversation secretly recorded by her niece, Mary L. Trump. “He has no principles. None. None. And his base, I mean my God, if you were a religious person, you want to help people. Not do this.”

Barry, 83, was aghast at how her 74-year-old brother operated as president. “His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God,” she said. “I’m talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy sh*t.”

Lamenting “what they’re doing with kids at the border,” she guessed her brother “hasn’t read my immigration opinions” in court cases. In one case, she berated a judge for failing to treat an asylum applicant respectfully.

“What has he read?” Mary Trump asked her aunt.

“No. He doesn’t read,” Barry responded.

<snip>

Barry has never spoken publicly about disagreements with President Trump, and her extraordinarily candid comments in the recordings mark the most critical comments known to have been made about him by one of his siblings. No one else in the family except Mary Trump has publicly rebuked the president.

The transcripts reveal the depths of discord between the president and his sister, illuminating a rift that began when she asked her brother for a favor in the 1980s, which Trump has frequently used to try to take credit for her success.

At one point Barry said to her niece, “It’s the phoniness of it all. It’s the phoniness and this cruelty. Donald is cruel.”

<snip>

The allegation that Trump paid someone to take his SATs, which was one of the most publicized allegations in Mary Trump’s book “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created The World’s Most Dangerous Man,” stems from a conversation that Barry had with her niece on Nov. 1, 2018.

Barry told how she tried to help her brother get into college. “He was a brat,” Barry said, explaining that “I did his homework for him” and “I drove him around New York City to try to get him into college.”

Then Barry dropped what Mary considered a bombshell: “He went to Fordham for one year [actually two years] and then he got into University of Pennsylvania because he had somebody take the exams.”

“No way!” Mary responded. “He had somebody take his entrance exams?”

“SATs or whatever ... That’s what I believe,” Barry said. “I even remember the name.” That person was Joe Shapiro, Barry said.

<snip>

Barry has avoided talking publicly about her brother’s presidency while she was on the federal bench. In a rare public appearance, she used empathetic language far removed from her brother’s tough rhetoric.

So which of her brother’s policies does she oppose?

How come libs are not concerned about personal quality when their guy is in   Kennedy and Johnson whored around . Carter was an anti Semite.   Clinton was an abuser of women and a liar.  And Obama was a total lying, narcissistic scumbag.

Based on the post, Obama and Trump have a lot in common personally.   Since there was no mention of policy differences, just personality, I am amazed you are not a Trump supporter.

This probably won't sway any voters.  She has made statements like this before.  One thing I read that I did not know about the Democratic convention...no mention of impeaching President Trump.  What happened?

Her opinion is just as valid as anyone's, I guess, but just like 2016, when you offer us a choice between Trump and the festering flotsum your neo-marxist party perpetually forwards as the best you have, You will continue to be humiliated by Trump.

Kamala used to believe Joe's accusers, what happened?

Oh yeah, she sold her soul.

Just keep on digging and flinging the mud in desperation because that's all that you and your pathetic party has. Trump is teflon.

You all are going to lose so badly in November.

SO you mean family members fight? Say it isn't so! I am sure if we delved into your family someone would consider you scum too.

So her decisions establish national policy on immigration? Someone sounds arrogant here and it's not the POTUS. It's this limo leftist.

Quote

In response to a question from the Washington Post about how she knew President Trump paid someone to take the SATs, Mary Trump revealed that she had surreptitiously taped 15 hours of face-to-face conversations with Barryin 2018 and 2019. She provided The Post with previously unreleased transcripts and audio excerpts, which include exchanges that are not in her book.

Paid someone to take the SAT for you? Doubtful, those used to be guarded tests. You had to present ID to get in and you had to be verified before you took them. The ACT/SAT was a rather challenging and accurate test, until we identified it was racist.

“SATs or whatever ... That’s what I believe,” Barry said. “I even remember the name.” That person was Joe Shapiro, Barry said.

No proof, just a belief. I guess it was the father of Ben Shapiro. How crazy is this person?

Quote

Donald Trump was friends with a person at Penn named Joe Shapiro, who is deceased. Shapiro’s widow and sister told the Post last month that he never took a test for anybody, including Trump. Mary Trump has said it was a different Joe Shapiro, but that person has not surfaced.

Oh so it was a DIFFERENT Joe Shapiro, you know of the Shapiro clan that Trump hung out with. Another crap lie cast to create false statements. More hearsay, nothing more.

Everyone knows this right Bird? Everyone... You know like Everyone knows that Obama was the messiah, or that Hillary was in fact named after Sir Hillary, or that Biden is the savior that has died for the sins of white people everywhere. Yeah Everyone, who is delusional and leftist knows this. You gonna be shocked when Trump wins this in a walk? I mean "everyone" knows Biden is up by 1000 points in the polls.

You have a rather skewed world view.

Secretly recorded my ass.

ETA: All this means is that democrats have realized that in order for Biden to win, they have to find a way to make Trump look so bad that people will choose a demented man over him. Russia didn’t work, Ukraine didn’t work, China virus isn’t gonna work....

I know.  Just like it doesn’t matter that you’ll cast a vote for senility, incompetence and greed that will die in office only to be replaced by a liar who will say anything to keep power. Maybe this time they’ll get socialism right. Do you like socialism?

Sibling "evaluations" are worthless.

I had been the primary architect of my mom's "nest egg", guided by a former fellow employee (CFP) with a financial planning services firm. I always kept my sister Ann in the loop -- what was being planned, why, etc. Nothing happened unless she was aware and agreed with it.

My sister was the successor trustee of my mom's trust. Years before she assumed that responsibility my mom (being my mom!) had helped us though some very financially challenging times. Ann wasn't a party to the transactions; she was ignorant of the details, such as what offered, what obligations may have been created, etc. In reviewing these actions with my mom Ann obviously believed she was slighted. She never discussed them with me, or her apparent displeasure in them.

When my mom became unable to manage her own financial affairs Ann became trustee of my mom's trust. There were many legal trust reporting obligations she failed to perform, including notifying me of her assumption of the role. At my mom's death I became superficially aware of actions in the trust, including the liquidation of stock assets. I knew exactly what should have been in the trust, and what the value should have been. Ann initially deceived me as to when the assets were sold, and for what amount. When I began pressing her for details (she had never provided requested trust financial details to me over five years, as required by the trust) she deferred me to her personal attorney.

To make a long story short, (and after filing a complaint with the MD attorney general for elder financial abuse that resulted in the opening of a criminal investigation) she basically "surrendered" and reimbursed me what my share of the remaining trust would have been had she not effectively embezzled over $60K from it. Remember the trust assets were my mother's property -- not Ann's.

Point being -- significant sibling differences happen. I ended up with plenty of evidence as to my sisters' malfeasance. Maryanne offered plenty of assertions - I saw no supporting evidence. She can either make her case or shut up. . .

Did I miss when one of our resident useful idiots aka leftists posted stories about Kamala's parents and Willie's wife's comments?
Odd how they embrace secret recordings but ignore publicly spoken comments?  I seem to recall a woman called Linda who made a secret recording and the left wanted her crucified.
Didn't Bill Clinton tell Kennedy that a few years ago Obama would be getting us coffee?

Geez, don’t you understand that Kamala was making an unbelievable sacrifice (like most leftist women have to) for the betterment of us all! She went through with the BJs and whoring only for our sake!

And if Clinton said that, don’t you know that’s just Bill being Bill, he meant no harm, it’s just a funny little friendly jab at Barry. Boys will be boys.

But that Trump, now he’s a real monster!

Secret recording, a bunch of innuendo and hurt feelings. The Roy Cohn thing is interesting, I guess you could say one of President Trumps accomplishments was to help get his big sister get nominated for a Judgeship. Looks like her yard (big Sis) isn’t all that clean either.

And then there’s little Bomb-thrower Mary, what exactly has she done with her life? Seems most of her accomplishments have been tearing down her own kin. Looks like she burned another bridge with her aunt.

We all have things we aren’t particularly proud of in our lives, the Gipper was once a democrat for crying out loud.

This is a whole lot of “meh”, Mary is probably the source for NY’s snooping around in Trumps taxes.

I won’t get her the money she believes she’s owed and won’t absolve any of the perceived “wrong” she thinks she was done. The lady needs some councilling to start to build that bridge and get over it.

The report in the Murderapolis Star-Tribune says that Trump's acquaintance, Joe Shapiro, is dead.  Shapiro's widow and sister, though, say that Barry's claim is false.  So, what the Star-Tribune has printed is allegation with no objective evidence either way.

Is that what we want from a newspaper, allegations?
