Republican worries rise as Trump campaign pulls back from television advertising

The Washington Post - Michael Scherer and Josh Dawsey - LINK

<excerpted>

Fearing a coming cash crunch, President Trump’s campaign has pulled back from television advertising over the last month, ceding to Democratic nominee Joe Biden a huge advantage in key states and sparking disagreements over strategy within the president’s senior team.

Republican officials have been inundated with calls from worried activists and donors who complain about constant Biden ads in their local media markets, with very few paid Trump responses, according to people familiar with the conversations. Some Republicans close to Trump have been baffled at the decision to sharply curb advertising and have told the president he should change course.

The complaints have upended the dynamics that dominated much of the race so far. With less than eight weeks before Election Day, the once-lean Biden campaign is flush with cash, while the massive Trump operation is facing tough budgetary decisions down the stretch that have increased tensions around the president.

Why waste money on tv ads when Joe's going to self destruct anyway?   Short clip on Fox News yesterday showed him struggling to answer a supposedly unscripted question from a supporter.   Squinting like he always seems to be doing lately, he finally asked, "Could you move the teleprompter a little closer please?"   Really?!   And this guy's going to debate Trump?!

It happened that way in 2016 as well, I saw 10 ads for Clinton to 1 of Donald J Trump. He still won Michigan and I will point to the rallies held by the candidates here in the state this week.

Biden has 25 people at his rally, 10 of them were President Trump supporters that were there to heckle him.  President Trump shows up the next day and draws thousands. And we have seen or heard ads for Biden almost every waking hour. I cannot even listen to 760 WJR like I do because they are running almost non-stop ads for Biden. After this year I doubt I will ever go back to listening to them as they have their head so far up the Governors ass that it is sickening.

Its not about the ads. Crypt keeper Joe can't draw flies. Trump brings 20,000 to a arena for a speech in any place he goes even with the Dem-panic.

Biden didn’t actually say that. That was Trump mocking him.

However, Biden did ask them to “move it up here” suggesting to move up the script on the teleprompter. Plus he was breathing very heavy.

Paused at “Washington Post”.

”according to people familiar with conversations”

I’m familiar with conversations, and I’ve heard no such thing.

I'm seeing Biden ads like crazy on TV by me.  I see it as democrats concern because I live in a very blue socialist state   Why spend money on ads in a place you had sewed up in 2016?

Because democrats are not that bright. It's right up there with democrat vote fraud in California and New York. They spend millions trying to turn a blue state blue.

I've seen the voter fraud in those places as them bumping up popular vote so they can use it and attack electoral college as undemocratic denying will of the people.  Hillary got all her popular vote boost from Cally

I'm in deep blue Chicago. I expect Illinois to give it's electoral college votes to Biden, yet I can't wait to vote for Trump. I believe Trump will blow away Biden in the popular vote and I fully intend to help. I don't remember Trump having so many huge boat rallies in 2016. He's more popular than ever!

Yeah it's called "too early" to do TV ads.

This.

Trump just needs to blitz ads in late September and October, highlighting all of Biden's gaffes, lies, and goals, and reminding voters of promises kept and outcomes facilitated. Timing and content will be the key. . .

I always wonder who bases their vote on advertisements. Like who's wondering how to vote and then sees TV ad, yard sign, big postcard, or whatever and uses that to decide, or worse, who has decided who to vote for, then changes their mind because of an ad? I don't even believe the ads that say I'll like the new hamburger at the fast food place.

It's amazing to me how stupid people can be.

President Trump is not wasteful, as we have seen in the 3+ years since he's been in office.

He measures the benefits of investing funds into everything that he does, so WHY would that be different in his reelection campaign spending?

Spend the money when it will do the most good and doesn't go to waste.

The Biden( Sniffles the Clown) and Kamala (Camel Toe Harridan ) Harris ticket is spending money fast and furious to try to distract the sheeple with their debunked bullschit hoping that they can deflect attention away from the candidates who are mentally degrading and morally bankrupt.

Smart money isn't wasted and I have every confidence that the Trump campaign knows exactly when and how to spend their advertising dollars.
