Excerpt:

n October of 2006, the FBI released an intelligence assessment titled, “White Supremacist Infiltration of Law Enforcement.” Though the document—culled from FBI investigations and open sources—was heavily redacted, it reached a number of disturbing conclusions.

The assessment revealed that white supremacists “have historically engaged in strategic efforts to infiltrate and recruit from law enforcement communities”; that many of these white-supremacist infiltrators are known as “ghost skins” who “avoid overt displays of their beliefs to blend in”; and that the KKK have longstanding “ties to local law enforcement.” These firm ties between white supremacists and law enforcement persist to this day. Last year, Reveal published an investigative series exposing the police’s proclivity for Facebook hate groups and racist memes, and in late August, former FBI agent Michael German compiled an exhaustive report detailing the prevalence of “racism, white supremacy, and far-right militancy in law enforcement” and the federal government’s non-existent response to it.

Links between white supremacists and law enforcement have been thrown into sharper relief in recent months following the killing of George Floyd, and numerous instances of curiously chummy behavior between police and far-right militiamen during the ensuing protests for Black lives.

Frank Meeink, once one of the most prominent neo-Nazis in the U.S.—and the inspiration for the character Derek Vinyard, played by Edward Norton in the 1998 film American History X—thinks he knows why.

“I know that there are neo-Nazis who I used to run with who are now cops,” he tells The Daily Beast. “And that’s just in my crew. Imagine how many neo-Nazis and white nationalists have been becoming cops? Three of the people in my crew alone became cops.”

Meeink, 45, recalls attending a big summit in the early ‘90s with David Duke and other white nationalist leaders.

“They were telling us to cover up our swastikas, grow our hair out, and become cops,” he says. “I know of at least three of the people at that meeting who became cops.”

The main reason Duke and the other white nationalist speakers were urging their hate-filled charges to join law enforcement did not have so much to do with “alerting skinhead crews of pending investigative action against them,” as the 2006 FBI assessment concluded, but to disenfranchise people of color—particularly Black people.

“The Fourth Amendment is violated all the time by the cops, and in these meetings they would say, ‘Yeah—and when we become cops we’ll get them felonies so they can’t vote.’ That constantly went around,” Meeink remembers, sighing deeply. “We need to get all these white nationalists out of the police force. There are so many racist cops. And I know a lot of cops.”

In addition to releasing an updated and unredacted version of the FBI’s 2006 assessment, which Democratic lawmakers are presently lobbying for, one possible method of weeding out white nationalist cops, Meeink suggests, would be to create a team of former neo-Nazis like himself who would investigate cops that have arrested a high number of Black people solely for “resisting arrest.”

The FBI has always rested on its laurels.  During the rise of organized crime they would brag about how many communists they found.

As the old joke goes:  There was a secret meeting of the leaders of the 12 most powerful white supremacists organizations.  All 12 for undercover FBI agents.

Remember all the news stories about how the gangs in places like L.A. had/have infiltrated the ranks for their own agenda?

LB, your attempt, and the Left/media's continuing attempts, at painting police as monsters continues to forget one inconvenient fact: that the 'poor victimsTM' in these shootings are drug-addled thugs with lengthy records, who violently resist arrest, or, as with the case of the thug in Lancaster today, attack the police.  They're criminal scum that deserve to be shot.   If these criminals are your ideas of saints, you need to re-evaluate your perspective.

Heck, there have even been US senators like the honorable Robert Byrd, who rose quite high in their ranks. You just never know.

Like all of them were Democrats. And a hard hitting piece of investigative journalism by...the senor entertainment editor?

And as mentioned, think the "minority outreach" hiring of police in ganglands to blacks and Latinos doesn't sweep up a few gang members into the ranks?

Funny how someone can be outraged over UN PROVEN as in un named Neo Nazi's being cops.  But nothing over PROVEN as IN DEFINITE X Klansman being not just rank and file Dems, but high ranking/prominent ones.  Then again in the minds of some Cops are far worse and more dangerous than any Congress Critter.  Not like Officers write laws, decide funding, or such.

This post isn’t about partisan politics. If you’d like to talk about the history of racial politics in the US, the Klan, and the evolution of the Republican and Democratic parties, please start a thread and I may be inclined to participate.

LB, if you consider this article sufficient proof that there are lots of racists among the police, then surely you must accept that Bernie, AOC, Omar, Tlaib, etc are ironclad proof that the democrat party now is the new socialist party.

Depends what is meant by “some”. I can believe it’s more than 0%. Which of the following is closest to the truth in your opinion?

10% (1 in 10)
1% (1 in 100)
0.1% (1 in 1000)
0.01% (1 in 10,000)

The number of Law Enforcement Officers in American cities is about 2.2 per 1,000. So a city like greater Buffalo would have 2,500 LEOs for its 1.13 million people. How many of those are white supremacists?

BTW, if we assign numbers to this, then in fairness, we should assign numbers to how many among the police are BLM and Antifa sympathizers.

Stopped reading right there - due to the BS.  I have family that were police (retired now) and have known many.  Most police departments have very strict rules when it comes to any form of perceived racism.  They will fire any cop that does anything that even appears to be racist.  Saying anything that can even be construed as being racist results in immediate termination. Perhaps you should actually talk to some police about their department policies.

I've been to L.A. many times.  I've even driven through Compton (it's very close to the airport - LAX).  That's one place that you don't wanna' go if you're white - especially at night.

If you want to find some actual racists, visit Compton or Watts.  The crime is so bad there that police detectives often drive through with their guns on their laps - while on the way to the unmarked police building.  The recent officer shooting there is a good example of why.

Are you implying that the two officers shot in the face and head by a black assailant were nazis?

Funny, I didn’t see you on that thread condemning the officers’ attempted assassination?  But, you’ll create a thread to somehow tenuously connect the police and Nazi-ism.

I agree, poor timing...not to mention poor taste.
