Kamala Harris: ‘We Should Not Be Criminalizing Women Who Are Engaged in Consensual Opportunities for Employment’

By CNSNews.com Staff | August 20, 2020 | 4:32pm EDT

Sen. Kamala Harris (D.-Calif.), who is now the Democratic vice presidential nominee, said in a town hall broadcast by CNN on April 22, 2019 that she is in favor of decriminalizing sex work.

“So what I don't support is criminalizing these women,” Harris said.

“But we should not be criminalizing women who are engaged in consensual opportunities for employment,” Harris said. “But we should definitely be careful and be sure that they are not being trafficked or abused in any way.”

Uh Willie?..Mr Mayor?...any comments Sir?

Who came (ahem) up with that term, “consensual opportunities for employment”? That’s prostitution’s new name now?

So what’s rape then? “Non-consensual employment opportunity”?

Why should it be illegal to sell something that's perfectly legal to give away for free?

If that was the case and enforced there would be about 12 people in D.C.

Actually these progs have gotten really creative with euphemisms. But...if what they are describing wasn’t something wrong, they wouldn’t need euphemisms.

Oh, just wait, the progs will start calling rape something softer... like "struggle snuggle."

LOL. But the one doesn't require the other. How does the old saying go...?

"Sex is the price women pay to get married; Marriage is the price men pay to get sex."

By coincidence, it's less than a week until my wife's & my first anniversary. That's right, I'm 65 years old and never got married until a year ago. Best wife on earth. After living together "in sin" ( :giggle:) for 19 years we figured we'd proven ourselves compatible.

When has it ever really been free?

:D

Weird time for her to be bringing this up though.

I agree with you. It's anti-capitalistic to make such willing transactions illegal for moral reasons. And certainly this country was much more lenient about prostitution in the past when we were more frontier oriented. If there's a willing seller and a willing buyer I don't see a problem. But control for trafficking, that needs to be taken seriously.

Kestrel...

Reminds me of my old boss years ago when the movie "Sharkey's Machine" came out, starring the gorgeous Rachel Ward. He said he was watching it and said to his wife "A thousand dollar a night piece of ass, I wonder what that'd be like?" To which his wife replied "I'd have thought you'd consider that cheap by now."

Happy Anniversary Monty! I only lived "in sin" for about 2 years before we got married, but that was almost 33 years ago now. I think you two have made it well past the 7 year itch stage.

Thanks! I'm making her favorite meal, plus I've saved up for a bottle of good bourbon (as opposed to the cheap bottom-shelf stuff we usually drink.) And for dessert we followed the old tradition of freezing a piece of the wedding cake to be eaten on the 1-year anniversary.
